What I've learned so far about the offense...

- high tempo
- new terminology
- new cadence
- no huddle
- more 4 WR sets
- more passes to the RB
- power rushing attack
- some pistol sets
- some true Wildcat plays
- new routes
- will implement a shiftier, change of pace RB
So far I like what I'm hearing.

This is great & the early reports on LSU's offense seem impressive, with Cameron definitely making his presence felt.
Not to be too greedy (LOL), but to add to that impressive list, I would wish for more use of the TE in passing situations and improved OL play over the 2012 season.

A shiftier change of pace back? Sucks for Michael Ford.
So who fills that role, on a team with Blue, Hilliard, and Hill? Those are not what I would think of as "change of pace."

Blue is a change for Hill and Hilliard. Enough anyway. Blue is more a speed back than a bruiser.
Overlap sure but that could be the extent of the "change of pace" that we will see.
No huddle!!! I think we will see that on occasion but I doubt it will be how we run the offense play in and play out. A think it is just an option that the fans are fixating on when half the reason for implementing it was actually just to get more practice in, in a short amount of allowed practice time.

I haven't learned anyting new about the offense. That will come after the first game.

I get what you're saying. But there any number of ways to streamline an offensive scheme making it easier to remember and recall, while at the same time not simplifying the offense its self.
Just from what I have heard on these spring updates, it sounds to me like essentially the offense will run out of a handful of base sets. Out of each base set, each piece of the play is interchangeable between base sets (to a certain degree). Instead of having to memorize lets just say 30 individual play calls that only apply to a single play, you only learn 5-6 set of responsibilities that can be applied in multiple variations across your different positions.
In other words... instead of being able to tell what the offense is about to run based off of the look they are giving you... The offense can essentially run ALMOST everything out of any set (or "look").

I'm just hoping we mix things up better and disguise plays more effectively next year. There's nothing wrong with smash mouth football and lining up in a power I saying "here's what we're running...try to stop it." But I'm not a fan of:
"here's what we're running...try to stop it."

I forgot about the TE. There has even been talk of using the TE more in the passing game rather than just a glorified OL.
