Aside from break them down, build them up.

Assuming this is the case, did coaching strategies affect our slow start also? Maybe putting player unfavorable situation early on...?

I don't think this team realized their full potential until it got to crunch time and they felt the "oh shite" moment of the postseason expectations. New players, new lineups, freshman kinks were the results of the beginning of the season. Happens with every team though and once a team gets that "it" factor, anyone can be dominant. LSU has always performed better once the postseason nears. Also, at the beginning of the season the players didn't look comfortable with each other because a lot of things were new to the entire squad.

In PM case just stay out of their way. Let them swing at good pitches instead of trying to hit and run with inconsistent pitchers.

I'll say this, just looking at the offense...

Micah Gibbs should get some credit. Whatever happened over the course of the season, he has his guys going up there with what looks like a plan and they are having some GREAT at bats. They're working counts and they're getting their pitches, and they're barreling balls up.

This is as good as I can remember seeing Mainieri's teams hit. And given the naysaying I and others have done about Gibbs, I'll eat those words. He's clearly gotten through to them.

All he needs is the final piece, which is to get Jake Slaughter hot, and this might be the season we've been looking for since 2009.

the strategy for CPM is tinker tinker tinker to find my best 9 guys in the lineup and who I can trust out of the pen until May. Put those guys in and let's get going for postseason. It has worked for the most part as his teams always play well down the stretch. A lot of people on this board can't look past the next game. Which is fine there is nothing wrong with that mentality and it's what makes LSU fans great. They're passionate but that mentality just doesn't work for baseball so it makes for some epic melts when LSU loses a random mid week game.

1. Lose midweek games.

2. Get paid.

The bigger question is what does Alan Dunn do that makes our best pitchers look like garbage after the SEC tourney every year. It's pretty amazing that they can dominate the SEC, and then struggle so much afterwards.
