What is rule on kicked balls "crossing the plane" for touchbacks

.. I thought the late punt by LSU should have been down on the 1 yd line ... sorry if on another post... I didnt see it .. thanks

Been discussed many times. Obviously the ball has to cross the plane for it to be a touchback. The ball clearly did not cross the plane. It should have been downed at the 1.

Yeah, it wasn't even close. Another one for people to blame on the refs, because that would have been a VERY different field position battle. It probably would have led to a tiger's score or field goal if they placed it correctly.

..I know ball not over - Im talking about if player is involved with goal line ...what does the rule actually say ?

It says the ball has to cross the plane. It has absolutely nothing to do with the player. Player can be standing on the 2 and reach his arm out for a ball that has crossed the goal line and slap it back out, but it is still a touchback.

Completely ridiculous call when the guy standing right by the ball gets the call from the field judge 30yds away.
