What does this mean for standings

If we run the table and end with one sec loss, and bama has 1 sec loss against us, normally we would advance, but in this case they would have 1 more win so we wouldnt be tied.
They advance?
They advance?

One would assume so since their winning percentage would be higher.

It means a 7-1 Alabama would win the SECW over a 6-1 LSU even with a HTH win over the Gumps.
..and Alabama fans would laugh all the way to the SECCG.

It means we're fricked if we finish 6-1 and the gumps finish 7-1.

If we run the table we would be 6-1 and they would be 7-1. They advance based on winning percentage.

This is exactly the problem with cancelling. It's going to come down to the eyeball test and what have you done lately?
might be beneficial for LSU in that scenario. total toss up

1. Two-Team Tie: In the event two teams are tied for a division title, the following procedure will be used in the following order:
A. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams;
B. Records of the tied teams within the division

It's subjective and not formulaic?

6-1 < 7-1
really hurts our chances in SEC

My thought is that this game gets played only if either team's record factors into who wins the division.

We wouldn't be tied. Their winning percentage would be .875 and ours would be .857. They advance

Except 6-1 and 7-1 does not equal a 2 team tie

Bama has @Arkansas, @Tenn @LSU and A&M in the next four weeks. You see just one loss?

maybe we both cancel out 2nd to last games. ours would be south alabama and theirs Presbyterian
They wait to see if it matters that we play this game, when it looks like it will, they cancel those games

You DO know where the SEC offices are, don't you?

One would have to assume winning % wins out. I know it was a different era but way back in the day teams played different number of conference games for various reasons.
In 1939 there was a 3 way tie between Tenneessee, GT and Tulane. But all were undefeated with Tenn and GT at 6-0 and Tulane at 5-0 so technically they all had a 1.000 win%.
In 1961 both LSU and Bama are considered SEC champions. Alabama was 7-0 while LSU was 6-0.
In 1976, Georgia finished 5-1 and Bama 5-2. Georgia is consider the champion of 1976.
That's the closest I could find to this years potential situation. I have to assume win % is the tie breaker if unequal number of games played.
