He wants to be HC again, and I don't think we want him to be HC for real (I don't see him being on the short list)

He resigned from USC for the same reason.

If you make a coaching change you have to be prepared to lose everybody. It comes with the territory. You may keep some, but you can't count on it.

This is a very good point. Hopefully Miles wins enough to prevent a mid-season change. That would be very bad.

Im not convinced its' bad...

When change needs to happen, it needs to go ahead and come out in the light

I'd agree I think

once he tastes the waters, he doesn't want to go back?

I don't know...hopefully O would be retained

Good reason not to hand the reins to O.

Give him a shot. 2 year contract. Can't do much worse. I think he learned from the Ole Miss experience.

who cares? we might lose him anyway.

He was a disaster as head coach at Ole Miss. He was fantastic at interim coach at USC. If we have to fire Les Miles, I say we fire Cam Cameron along with him and let Orgeron be the interim coach. He's good at that. But, he hasn't proven himself a long-term head coach yet.

If he gets another head coaching gig, then that is great for him. Hopefully he'll have success in it. Meanwhile, we can hire someone who has proven to be a good head coach.

TL;DR - Make O the interim, he's good at that. Then hire a good head coach, he's not good at that.

Good god, y'all want the best of the both worlds. Just to let you know, when Les' time to go comes, you're more than likely going to lose your whole staff.

At this point I really don't care who we lose. If a coach on this staff is willing to lose valuable years by coaching under Miles without convincing him to change then they don't possess great leadership skills. I don't see how they haven't revolted by now.

We ain't losing no one.. It's LSU and everyone stays like every other season unless someone resigns for some other lucrative offer.

Of course we are. For one thing, any proven head coach will want to bring in his own people. As good as they may be, the new guy is not likely to want "Miles coaches" on staff. No need for second-guessing, divided loyalties or back channels.
One way or another, everyone will go with the possible exception of Aranda who is so new.

They are great coaches. It's just a matter of time.

This is the bottom line. If Les goes, O goes. O will not get the HC gig and isn't going to just stick around for the next guy.

They will not publicly fire Les during the season. They may make the decision but no way he's sent packing before the last game unless he quits.

Agreed. Like Miles, great recruiter and nice guy, but not Championship coaching material.

If Kifin lands a HC gig, he will get coach O, should Miles be cut lose.

I didn't want O before he came on board. Since he's here, I've decided I was wrong and I like him. But not enough to do nothing in the face of this crossroads at LSU football. If he stays, good for him and us. If he goes, blessings to him on his way. If CLM stays, we still have no guarantee he stays. Nor Aranda.

Yeah let's not get a head coach so we don't make the line coach mad.
