Saturday at the game, two guys in the late 20s - early 30s showed up for the two seats next to me at the 14:00 mark of the 2nd quarter. When LSU scored a touchdown to go ahead 14-3, one guy says to the other, "At what score do you want to leave?" At halftime, one of the guys turned to me and said, "We're heading out, y'all enjoy the rest of the game."

Two excellent seats, in the shade, and these guys watched 14:00 of gametime.

We should reserve those seats for high school football coaches.

It's an appalling trend to say the least.

No doubt they would have come in handy in October of 2007.

Look, the deal is that in order to sell all the seats in the stadium at maximum obtainable prices, the athletic department markets them to businesses that can afford to pay those prices and take a writeoff (or partial writeoff, if they are obeying the tax law). The businesses (and their owners) may or may not have (a) other seats that they use personally, or (b) any particular loyalty to LSU other than the recognition they get for making donations. So they give the seats to whoever they feel like giving them to, without regard to the "fan-ness" of the recipient. The result is many thousands of seats that either go unoccupied, or are occupied only for the novelty of the experience, and are abandoned when the game is too uninteresting, too uncomfortable, or less attractive than some other form of entertainment.
The root cause is the financial motivation of the athletic department (which of course pays for the salaries of Miles, Cameron, Chavis, etc., the facilities, etc.) There is no solution other than a different marketing approach which will have as a necessary result a lower revenue target and a less consistently high-quality product on the field.

I thought those seats were in the West Upper? Not really "prime" seats, unless you ended up sitting in someone else's seats.

True. Cannibals, particularly patricidal cannibals, are among the many problems confronted by the typical LSU fan.

Pretty pathetic. I know people will say "You can do what you want with your tickets!" and they're right. But obviously our fans are becoming more and more spoiled and the football game is SECOND to the tailgating.

To me personally, that's sad. You tailgate FOR the game. You don't go to the game FOR the tailgating.

We have a group of 5 or 6 seats by us in the East Upper with the LSU stadium seats that have pretty much been empty for 3 years. Every now and then for bigger games we get high school kids. That's over $4K in tickets just going to waste. Makes zero sense.

If you're going to do that, you basically are saying you don't mind taking 4,000 dollars and setting it on fire or throwing it in the toilet. I guess if you want to do that go ahead but don't act offended when people ask you "WHY?"

I sat next to my friends grandparents on the east side, if they could stay the whole game, then I certainly was going to
