Why go out and Gunsling it around and expose plays in your play book? When can you run it up their throat with the best running back in CFB.

The exposing plays excuse is obsurd. Was said time and time again when Miles offenses were questioned.
I'm going to agree with you on this one DaCajun1.

I'm most definitely in the camp of "show it, prove it, make them plan for it".

Saw a post regarding this the other day actually, a very good post. Poster basically elaborated on a "surprise play" only being a surprise for 1 play. But it is more effective making them practice & plan for it because of time (limited practice time in NCAA + film time) and resources.

re: Weird...Canada's passing offenses averaged...
So you're saying you want to see an offense that is driven by a certain ratio in every game?

One that never changes to attack the specific weaknesses of the opponent in any given week? One that every opposing defensive coach can predict?

Come on. There may be a few concerns, but this isn't one of them.

re: Weird...Canada's passing offenses averaged...
1. Pitt had under 20 or fewer attempts 5 times last year, so attempts being in the teens is not unusual for Canada.

2. He had over 30 attempts only 4 times. Three of the four games with over 30 attempts came in games where the Pitt defense gave up more than 40 points.

So basically, LSU's 18 attempts per game is pretty consistent with what Canada likes to do, and Pitt's 2016 average was pulled up by a few games where opponents scored 45 (30 attempts), 51 (36 attempts) and 42 (38 attempts).

Well with Etling throwing bombs last wknd, it honestly didn't give him the option to have many attempts....long and short of it baw.

Ok

Instead of running the ball most of time and win like LSU does, why not throw the ball most of the time and lose like the Saints?

Makes perfect Rantard sense to me.

I am trying to save you from this continued embarrassment. While you may not be the worst poster on TD(There are so so many bad ones) you are the worst thread starter.

My musical taste has is superior to any human that has ever lived. I would not expect you to understand that. Spend some time reading about Dunning-Kruger, but realize, there is nothing you can do about it.

A solid analysis to counter a point. The rest of you are coach apologist.

1. LSU has played two games. Neither of which required them to sling the ball all over the field to win.

While completely true. Do you think its a good idea to letting etling sling the ball around in the first game that we actually HAVE TO?

2. Last year's SEC rushing leader is in the backfield. A guy who is talked about as being one of the top 3 RB's in the country. It would take a dumb OC to NOT get him the ball extensively.

Much more reasonable point

re: Weird...Canada's passing offenses averaged...
So many posts on all the boards lately have been pointing at statistics for TWO GAMES. Geez, stats are only a valid point if the sample size is large enough. Its frustrating to read so many fans pointing to season stats after two games in to the season.

Watch the games. Look at the players. Make an assessment off of that. Don't look at a recap of stats and try to make an intelligent conversation about such a small sample size.

Example: Danny Etling had ZERO passing yards in the fourth quarters of games this season. Is he lacking the stamina to throw the ball accurately?? (These stats were made up for the sole purpose of illustrating a point)

re: Weird...Canada's passing offenses averaged...
Right now we are averaging just under 200 yards per game passing. Total offense is averaging around 465 yards per game and 36 points.

Canada historically adjusts to his opponent. He beat Penn St throwing 15 times and running 56. He beat Clemson throwing 37 times and running 33.

He's not going to deviate from his gameplan to placate the fan base.

If etling throws it 30 times we will lose every game.

I would add to this that it is also very likely that Canada wants to get our backs and OL comfortable with the new blocking scheme and how to read the blocks. The new scheme requires the back to be more patient and read off the blocks vs just hitting the hole. It will take time for our backs to get used to it.

you're taking averages from whole seasons versus stats from TWO. GAMES. passing numbers will increase, hold onto your seat. we have an offense now that can adapt and change a game plan mid-game. we haven't seen THAT in a decade.

we've played two inferior teams who allowed us to run the ball very successfully.
