I don't think "laughing stock" was the perception at all.

If we're talking about the general consensus outside of Louisiana, the sentiment is why did LSU fire Miles, period. I know we all know why Miles was fired but most people don't.

Outside of McFarland and Marcus Spears (the same guys who were pushing for Ed Orgeron to be head coach), virtually no national pundits were thinking Miles should have been fired.

This is a narrative taken from the Tiger Rant and SEC Rant. LSU was not, and was never considered to be, a laughing stock under Miles.

we should have been a laughing stock, but strangely, everyone else is too ignorant to realize how bad Miles was.

People outside of the south just don't take CFB that seriously.

To them it's like "8 wins, what's the problem?"

Again, we're talking about general perception. People think everyone was laughing at LSU and that wasn't these case at all, at least not to people I talk to. LSU was seen as a very solid program.

Well, thank god we got rid of Miles and were fortunate enough to land a proven winner in Coach o. It was embarrassing losing to Miss. St all those years under Miles and barely winning all those out of conference games.

But now we got a coach who will restore order. The future looks bright!

If we fired Miles to hire Orgeron, then I don't think we all know why, do we?

why did LSU fire Miles

Since we ended up hiring O, this is a damned good question.
