I didn't realize that leaving starting pitchers in too long, pulling relievers too early, subbing out experienced batters, not bunting with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs in extras and burning your closer on opening day of a series were players decisions...I might have to take back SOME of my long cursing streams directed at PM...

Is the theme Paul seeing how many pitching mistakes he can make in one game, I think he seriously damaged Poches' confidence last night for no reason, He never prepares for a pitcher losing it and never warms relievers until the current pitcher has lost it. Someone should have been in the bullpen to start the 7th and would have been ready before any runs were scored.

God damn it CPM quit fricking blaming losses on the players when you're the one that clearly fricked it up.

the players made their share of mistakes, but i think most everyone in that stadium knew that Poche was being extended to long when he went to the mound in the 7th. The guy sitting next to me even mentioned that Poche was going deeper then he had all year and we had no one warming. We should have at least had someone ready because when Poche goes down, he goes fast. PM above anyone else should know this.

We mauled their relief pitching today (only one inning worth though), but their starters have basically held us in check all weekend. Lets hope we can knock their starter out early today.

We really need to get better at getting starters out of the game. I think the last 3 or 4 games the opponent's starters lasted longer than ours.

Maybe the theme should be to switch Friday and Saturday starters so we can win both games going forward instead of splitting

I could not disagree more. Poche finished with 87 pitches. He must have been around 70 after six extremely efficient innings. Compare this to Bouman last year against Houston. Bouman pitched seven (?) efficient innings, and CPM pulled him, and this board melted when we lost. Certainly some differences. We didn't have much in the pen last year.
Remember that Friday's game was not critical. It's important that CPM identifies exactly what each guy can be depended on to produce. Leaving Poche in was a smart move - not for the Kentucky game, but for money time in the NCAAs.
