I think we should focus on caring for our current Mike.

Good Lord, Mike VI isn't dead. Stop trying to put him in the ground. He's going to go through treatment

Very cute, but let's see what happens with Roscoe first.

He doesnt have to be dead to retire. He's sick, probably wants some peace and quiet. There's nothing wrong with bringing in another one and giving Roscoe a break.

Tradition is that Mike has to at least be part Bengal.

And put him where exactly? Mike's habitat is one of the best in the world. He receives specialized, first-class care through the Vet School and will be going through one of the most sophisticated radiation treatment programs that has ever been performed on a tiger before. Not to mention, Mike's demeanor has not changed (according to Dr. Baker's presser yesterday) he's still a social/playful animal. The only time they knew something was wrong was when they noticed a bump on his face.

So please stop saying that we need to "retire" or move Mike for his own "peace." That's just ridiculous and will probably stress him out more than anything else.

Yeah he seemed fine on Saturday when I walked by there after the baseball games.

I also realized with relatives that faught cancer, they weren't in pain until they started treatment. Unless a tiger has some sort of instinct, he doesn't know he has cancer. Just like every human that gets diagnosed with it.

a cub would be cool, but let's do what we can for Mike VI before we move on to Mike VII

Mike VII will be a special tiger, one truly worthy of the honor of wearing #7, I have no doubt...

But there is no rush. Making sure Roscoe has everything he needs should be our only concern at this time.

In the past, PETA has been very vocal against LSU keeping a live tiger.

They really complained when we got the current tiger.

They will do everything they can to keep us from getting another live tiger!

Amen. Seems that a lot of our base don't have pets or just don't care much for animals in general. Either way, if your dog is sick, getting a new dog is the furthest thing from your mind and Mike is much more than that.

Totally agree, but there is some valid discussion about retiring him before this terrible illness takes him.
