4 upvotes, 98 down votes so far. This means at least ~4% of the ranters out there still don't hate Alabama enough.

Im not ignoring it I'm just truly of the thinking that if we lose to Bama then the chances to win the West significantly decrease no matter what. Consider that Ole Miss has a bye before they play us right after we play Bama and a loss to Bama looks like it could drag our season down in a hurry.

But that makes no sense. (assuming an A&M win this weekend) If we beat Alabama but lose to Ole Miss we almost definitely won't win the west. If we lose to Alabama but beat Ole Miss we can still win the west.

And anyway, whether or not you think its important for LSU mentally to beat Alabama, that still doesn't explain why you want Alabama to still be in contention for the west when we play them. If you think our entire season hinges on beating them, it would seem logical to want Bama to be eliminated and down, not treating it like a championship game.

I don't get it either. Some people here wanted Bama to beat Georgia, which makes even less sense. I'd rather play Bama when they're out of the West race and have nothing to play for.

Saban would retire like Spurrier if we gave him his 3rd loss. Go ATM

I want bama down but we can deliver their second loss and that blow ourselves. Ole miss can deliver a second loss to A&M and as long as Ole miss loses to either Arkansas or Miss St. This would give us the most breathing room in that last 3 game stretch. I see the hardest potential situation as absolutely having to win 3 tough games in back to back to back weeks after what would be a fairly demoralizing loss to a Bama team that was "eliminated and down" as you say.

Pretty stupid logic. If aTm beats Bama, and we run the table but lose to Bama, we're in.

Yes, a loss to Bama would mean we'd need to beat all 3 of Arky/OM/A&M. If A&M beats Bama, though, that would still be good enough for us to win the West. If Bama comes into our game with one loss and beats us, we're no longer in control, and would have to hope they lose to MSU or Auburn.

Your assuming we run the table against two teams that beat Bama and Arkansas in back to back to back weeks. BTW Ole miss has a Bye before they play us and that is directly after Bama beats us in your scenario. No thank you. I'd rather Bama be a must win than all three of those games.

You're assuming that Ole miss and aTm can't beat us. They absolutely can. This way reduces the ammount of odds the other teams control their own destiny

Obviously they can, but it'll be a lot easier beating Ole Miss on the road and TAMU at home, than beating Bama on the road.

I would love to go undefeated, but the possibility of that happening in a CFB power conference outside of the ACC, the SEC no less, is absurdly high.

It's obvious to say "just win out" but minus the 2013, 2009 and 2010 seasons everybody had needed a little help because they didn't win out.

2008, 2009, 2010, & 2011 ALL had undefeated SEC West champs... seriously, how could you forget 2011?

We could get to Atlanta and lose to bama if bama losses this weekend. Dumbest post of the year.
