*Bama knows how to win better than us, we are young and relatively untested.
*Our defense gets gassed in the 2nd half

Assuming that penalties and turnovers are a wash, we need to jump out early and force Bama to play catch up. We need to force them out of their game plan and comfort zone. If it is close late in the 2nd half, we are in trouble. History shows that. I could see Bama with a couple of long drives in the 4th quarter against a tired defense.

What an arbitrary statement. This isn't true at all

History isn't suiting up for either side Saturday night. It's going to be the hardest hitting game of the year. The team that executes their plan better will win the game

It would obviously be nice, but this game isn't a sure Bama win if it's close in the 2nd half.

I'd almost rather us start off trailing so they don't take the foot off the gas.

I mean, I will take it, but you're incorrect.

I'd say the focus is more on not letting them get a TD in the last 2 minutes to tie/win the game.

completely disagree.

with a 10 pt lead, miles will go uber conservative and bama will climb back in it.

There should be NO risk of us taking the foot off the gas. If we are up by 20 and we score another TD, we should go for 2 to make it 28.

Please explain to me first why Bama "knows how to win better." Was the dominating performance vs Tennessee winning better? Was the great game vs Arkansas a good win? How about the "quality loss" to Ole Miss?

And our offense makes defenses gassed in the second half.

quote:

turnovers are a wash

Why would we assume this? LSU is tied for 13th in the FBS with a +7 turnover margin. Bama is tied for 38 with a +3 turnover margin.

Coker has thrown 7 interceptions to Harris's 0.

If it is close late in the 2nd half, we are in trouble. History shows that.

Really? "History" shows that THIS LSU team can't win close games late?

To the contrary, I think "history" shows that this team finds its offensive stride in the second half. In fact, this team averages 186 yards and 17.5 points in the second half ON THE GROUND ALONE.

Thus, I submit that since other teams get tired on defense too (even bama), as long as we're within a score late in games, there are very few teams with the staying power to beat us.

If we get a lead, Miles will try to sit on it like he always does. It's been the recipe for the past comeback losses. But hey, it works against mid-majors, so obviously it's genius.

Couldn't disagree more. We seem to falter in the second half with a lead. I think we should let Bama get up by at least 3 possessions then we come back and nip em at the wire.....

That's what I think....

If we just get out to a 9-0 start, it's over. Like sneak out the back gate at halftime over.
