We have not won SEC gym in 36 years! Good read by Rabalais, this is the year

Hard to believe we have not won SEC gym title since 1981 even though league only has 4-7 teams during that time. But good read by Scott R below, this is the year. Say what you want about DD but anyone who stays around for 36 years and watches 3 other teams (Bama, UGA, UF) win it all 36 times is if anything persistent and determined.
This year's team is clearly a NC contender as well. Of course men's hoops has not won SEC tourney since 1980..so we have that going for us..thank god for Football, Baseball, WBB (before Vargas), Track, Men's golfs softball, volleyball etc..at least they have SEC titles since 1980...after all we are not Ole Miss....

The sec meet is really meaningless.
Most would probably rather rest their top players to avoid injury.
Kind of like SEC track and field meet, it's meaningless as most have already qualified for regionals.

This is the first time there's a regular season SEC title as well as the SEC championships, so that helps. I remember reading that we would've won the regular season title the last 2 years, if it had existed then.

One thing that the article doesn't mention is that LSU hasn't hosted the SEC meet since 1981. The home field advantage in gymnastics is huge.
I forgot how many SEC regular season championships they would have if this format was used in the past. More than 2 I think.

but really.
actually had they instituted the regular season title earlier, she'd have a 3-4 by now. they're just well known to choke at the SEC championship meet

But yes hard to believe that UF, Bama and UGA have won the last 36, and Auburn, LSU have zero! (Ark has only had a program since 2000 and UK since 1995, Missouri is new to SEC). TN, MSU, Ole MIss, A&M do not even field a team, how can 3 teams always win! But again that is about to end at least now that they give two awards...DD may be the only coach in SEC history in any sport to go 35+ years with no titles, but again that will soon end and may include a NC.

In other words, LSU men's basketball has won 5 sec championships since the last time LSU gymnastics won an sec championship.
