I was at the game so I'm sure this has been discussed already. What is the deal with him randomly going to talk to umpire after nothing had happened? And always going to talk to pitchers on 1-1 counts or 2-2 counts when Jordan had fouled off a few in a row. Then is 80 year old arse would wobble back. Helluva coach but it pissed me off

He didn't like the strike zone today. That's what he was talking about to the umpire. Which was ridiculous because it was about 4 X 4 for the rice pitcher. That's why he would go and talk to the umpire. There were a couple takes that he and his staff did not enjoy. Coaches go to their pitchers on all different counts, sometime for no other reason but to stop the guy who has fouled off 500 pitches in a row. Like icing a kicker.

If he wasn't 80 he would have been tossed with the quickness for arguing balls and strikes. A few of the Rice players had some words for the ump too after a Latz or Poche K

I think he went out there and just talked BS at that point after Beau had fouled off 6 or 7 straight pitches just to try and break Beau's rhythm and to give his pitcher a short break to catch his breath and compose himself. He was looking frustrated that he couldn't get strike three past Beau.

I couldnt believe the one Rice kid didnt get tossed when he mouthed off at the plate and then had the nerve to turn around on the way to the dugout and bark some more at the Ump. Rarely do college kids get that much leeway with umpires???

First few times was to argue a bit. The last time was to make sure he still had a mound visit left so he didn't have to take out the pitcher.

Got to love the old guy, if you beat him in a tournament you have accomplished something. He has an advantage, they don't have to start warming up a relief pitcher until he heads out to the mound.

I'm with you. The last game Wally Pontiff played for LSU was against Rice. When Mr Graham found out about Wally's death, he shipped the 3rd base bag to Wally's family. Now that Class !!!!
