Yesterday I had a chance to sit down and watch Matt Canada's offense against Clemson earlier in the year to their only defeat. And his offense comes with a lot of motion and a lot of misdirection formations and plays. Wondering with the QB's we have on our roster which QB do you feel will pick up the offense the fastest and will be able to translate it to the field the easiest? I'm going out on a limb and claiming Lindsey Scott Jr. will be our starting QB 2017-2018 season. Input Tiger faithful.

Prepare for lots of downvotes but I'll answer your question anyway

I believe Etling will be the obvious starter heading into next year but I have a gut feeling that Lindsey Scott will push hard for that starting role and possibly win it.

Would love to see it happen.

I think his running ability would be damn fun to watch back there.

He has a cannon and a damn sharp mind. If he were 6'3 he'd be a shoe in!

Scott will definitely have some packages..I'm thinking similar to the way A&M used Kyler Murry

You have trouble formulating a proper sentence, but we should trust your film study skills?

What exactly is a misdirection formation?

This Board and LSU Fans in general are always obsessed with the next thing at QB.

People forget that Scott wouldn't have even gotten an offer had Flippy Franks kept his commitment.

Scott is, was and likely always will be a backup plan.

Anyone saying they know Scott will be the starter or that this guy is just setting the world on fire behind closed doors where no one can see him is blowing smoke.

The backup to the backup. The board never fails. Lindsey will probably never have a meaningful snap at LSU.

But that wasn't a knock on Scott. LSU thought they had Franks locked up from early in the process, and felt they were in it for Shea Patterson until his brother took a job at Ole Miss.

If Franks didn't commit early like he did then Scott would have had a commitable offer a long time before it happened.

Also if Scott were 2 inches taller there wouldn't be a discussion. He would have been a 5 star dual threat phenomenon. Kid can ball for sure.

I agree that etling will start but we'll see some packages for scott.

always the intangible. etling and the receivers had some chemistry going by the bowl game. of course Dupree is now gone so you don't know how he'll look next year. he was improving.

one thing is for sure - I feel better about qb than I have in a long, long time as an lsu fan.

I'm not one of those posters. I honestly feel Scott will push really hard for playing time. Kid has everything your looking for in a solid qb with potential for greatness

You're right. I was told by one assistant, that Scott was going to be a part of a two QB class for 2016. Franks and Scott. The staff wasnt completely comfortable with Franks because he had struggled some in the 2015 summer camp. He improved in the 2016 camp. Franks then threatened to decommit unless he was the sole QB commit for the class. Franks obviously decommited in November anyway. Scott decommited in January 2016 and became a Maryland lean. Two days later we offered. This "he wouldn't have gotten offer" thing is a little over blown.

Scott has a place in this offense, I just don't see him starting next year.

Most of us have never seen him play, but we have heard from various people that he is damn good. In fact, Herb Tyler says that Scott is the best quarterback right now on the team and is more than a little electrifying. He also says that Scott's leadership skills are second to none and that he should be the starter in 2017. Coach O has said Scott is going to be a real good dual threat quarterback for us. Mike Dettilier says he is an outstanding athlete and that he has a very accurate arm. Now personally I don't know, but I tend to believe it when people that know football say he is damn good.

Now it's kind of hard for me to believe that he will unseat a senior who played pretty good for us last season, but I won't be surprised to see him injected into games periodically for a series or two just to get him accustomed to facing SEC defenses. Because I'm thinking that if he doesn't become the starter next season, that he'll probably be the heir apparent for 2018.
