With better planning sunday wouldve been a perfectly reasonable option. Hell marshall is playing today and ohio state is playing on the road tomorrow

Simple. We've got a standard week to prepare for State. Miles would have to be a rantard level idiot to cut that prep time for a game against Mcneese.

Even though it would have been great to get a walk through game before entering SEC play, I think the program knows it's more important to start preparing for Miss St. on Sunday.

Edit: What Penrod said.

Was Sunday Considered

So long as people continue to post the exact same question, I'm going to copy and paste my response...

quote:
Have any of you bothered to think past your own self interests as to how that would even be possible?

Could you have potentially kept the officiating crew in town to officiate? Maybe, but even that would be doubtful. But did you even consider the MASSIVE undertaking it is to put on a sporting event for 90.000 people? the security needed? The parking attendants? The catering and food which would have to be schedule to show up AGAIN today. Ushers, security, etc.

It would have been 100% impossible to play this game in front of a crowd today or Monday after already trying on Saturday. Impossible.

This isn't REMOTELY like 2005 and the Rita Tennessee game as that game was moved days in advance which gave the university time to replan and did not already go through expendables which could not possibly be replaced in under a day.

In short, there is no such contingency plan in the history of history that could have enabled LSU to tell everyone, "Hey...come back tomorrow and we'll try again."

Think 9-11 here. That forced nationwide rescheduling...so when we played AU the last game, so did everyone else in the SEC that lost that 9-11 Saturday's game. The SEC Championship was pushed back a week to accommodate the SEC schedule extending a week. Without knowing the details, I'll assume it was probably a legalistically clusterfrick getting all those pieces moved even two months out.

But LSU needs to be chastised because they didn't have a contingency in place for an event that has not happened in Tiger stadium since WWI.

Well...good news is that LSU fans are still miserable assholes, so there's something you can always count on!

What bothers me is the grabass way it was handled. Nobody knew WTF was going on. Wait til midnight, then cancel at 1030. Clearly they never considered that something like this might happen and had no earthly idea what to do except watch the sky.

Uhh Illinois Kent state did it. They were supposed to play Friday and lightning delayed it so they pushed it to Saturday. Why couldn't we do the same thing???

It's an event that the organizers of the event decided to cancel. The only thing to do at this point is go outside, grill some burgers, and not think about this at all.

Thank you sir. Expecting the average LSU fan to think further than the end of his d....ummmm nose is a stretch.

I am pretty sure that the "fans" making the most noise were NOT in Tiger Stadium last night, if ever.

So you're saying the athletic department never considered the possibility of a t-storm, and once it started the had no idea how to handle it other than watching it progress? Geez, what a bunch of idiots over there.

They knew what would happen if they couldn't play it today, a cancellation

thats why they waited hours before giving up.

they weren't going to play a 12 o'clock game.

We weren't going to play a make up game Sunday or Monday. This wasn't a conference game

Whatever dude, Silly reason not to play the Game ... guess you think NFL preseason should be cancelled too...

Maybe lets just play SEC game and call it a season ...

To be honest though, the best preparation would have been playing a real game against a real opponent. Practice is still practice and not a game in front of thousands of people (most important for the QB).

We might have had 40k today if they would have rescheduled ...

But the more I think about it after I heard from Joe Alleva, maybe it was for the best to cancel.
