30+ days post BDS. My mind and heart are settling. LSU football is more than a game to folks here. Its a lifelong fellowship. Not having that marquee money game early like in past years (Oregon, Wisconsin, Arizona St) adding a cancellation and a natural disaster in SC. If Grier plays I could see how things may have played out a lot different. Forget W-L for a second. I'm speaking of the meltdown post BDS. A Hog fan came on here a few weeks ago and made a point that too much emphasis or build up was happening down here for Bama. Guess we don't have that to worry about next year playing in Lambeau early. Progress reports will be way more accurate and really very little chance of a major meltdown like we went thru post BDS.

Im not sure what youre getting at. So are you saying Florida wouldve beaten us with Grier? .....The letdown after bama was so bad because most fans feel like the offensive gameplan sucked and played right into bamas strength not because we thought bama was just a far superior team.

LSU being overrated isnt what was exposed in those 3 losses. Les' coaching ability and poor gameplanning is what was exposed in those 3 games.

Tigers lit up the scoreboard on Florida. Just thinking about how it all built up to the GOTC part 2, the Empire Strikes Again. The bye week was obviously spent sold on LF doing enough to keep the chains moving vs Bama. Maybe it was the Heisman talk to boot.

Guess we'll never know. Unfortunate for Florida. They had a really good team in all facets.

While this is true the gameplan against bama was clearly to get Fournette and the running game going. Most knew that would be a big struggle against that bama front 7 but ok you have to still try I get that but when it was being totally shut down there was absolutely no plan B.

I dont feel like the buildup to that game was unwarranted. At the time it was the 2nd and 4th ranked teams in the country. Those are the type of regular season matchups you cant help but get pumped about. And I truly believe that had all the makings to be a truly classic game had LSU had a more creative plan to attack the bama D.

Hurd getting those 91 yards the 3rd Sat of Oct may have led Miles to believe. Hurd gets 91. LF gonna eat. But Bama clearly was looking ahead just a bit to LSU.

I wish Les would have watched the way in which Hurd got those yards. By spreading the bama D out and threatening them with the passing game. Not by running one wide receiver sets and trying to just pound the middle against them.

Bama is one of the few teams that I think getting north south isnt the best plan of attack. Making all their big arse linebackers run sideline to sidline over and over again is the best way to attack them. They are perfectly built to stop a power running game. We played right to their strength. I know thats our strength too but sometimes you cant just do what you do. Sometimes to have to adjust and take advantage of other teams weaknesses and break some of your own tendencies a la what bama did us in the 2011 MNC game.

Wrong, plan B was to pass but you saw how well that worked out the first play of the second half.

It wasn't a "trap door" but I think it only continued the guise that we were a better team than we thought. That was what, game 6? I think the only starting QB we had even faced up to that point was Prescott and they honestly should have won that game. I really think we should have all given more pause when Florida put 28 up on us with a first week starting backup QB.

The UF game wasn't a "trap door," but it certainly turned out to be an outlier in the grand scheme of the season. State's D wasn't as good this year, and Auburn was too early in the rebuilding process (but they certainly look better now than they did vs LSU). UF stands out as the only game where our offense was effective against a very good or better defense. This is what gave us all hope that the Tigers could move the ball on Bama.

If we played UF today, who knows what would happen. I think the D would be better, but I have no clue what the offense would look like. It seems like we were riding early momentum, and it was a home game and I know that made a difference.

When you look at how Bama played against the run vs UT and Auburn, and then against us, you can see that they took our game VERY personally. They were on a mission to expose us and end Fournette's Heisman campaign, and it worked. They looked like they had a 1/9/2012 sized chip on their shoulder again. And this game did expose all of the weaknesses in our offensive line.

So again, the UF game was the big outlier. I have no idea how our offensive line pushed their very good defensive line around as much as they did.

If LSU played UF today it would be the same outcome, Treon Harris is an abomination at QB. UFs D did settle in in the 2nd half but poor qb play doomed any chance of a comeback.

Watch this kid play, youll see what i mean, he cant even throw screen passes.

Here's to seeing you guys again next yr, hope both teams are doing well at the time so this game gets the pub it deserves. I live in LA and i am a UF fan so this game is always one of my favs on the schedule.
