Visitors from the Great White North (Canada)

Hi fellow Tiger fans!
We're coming down from Canada for our first LSU game ever. My 3 friends and I are looking to be a part of what makes LSU so special a place to visit and we want to join in the festivities surrounding gameday/tailgating as much as possible.
We have heard stories of how the LSU tailgate is the best in college ball and we were hoping to join in with people. We can't offer much in the way of consumable contribution, aside from Canadian rye whiskey, but we have spirit and would love to see what LSU is all about!
Would anyone be interested in hosting some travelling Canadians?

We had some Canadians join our tailgate a few years ago. 4 guys who go to one game per year, making their way around the U.S. They had a great time with us, said they may actually make their first return trip to a stadium. Do you know them?

Welcome! You picked the right weekend. Weather should be perfect and Tiger Stadium will be at its best.
Where are you staying? That may help will some recommendations.
The best advice is to wear something that identifies you as out of towners who are just here for the party and experience. Something that clearly identifies you as Canadians would be best. Get to campus fairly early and just walk around. The entire campus is one big tailgate so you really can't pick a bad spot. I would suggest you check out Touchdown village (the RV lot), the Indian Mounds and the parade grounds.
The key phrase is "that smells good, what is that?" Just walk up, say that, and you will be well taken care of.
Thanks for coming down and have a great time. Be sure and come back and let us know about your experience.

We're staying across the lake at a hotel near the interstate.
We certainly plan to be down at the tailgate all day. We want to experience as much as we can!
Thanks for the recommendations on where to check out. We plan to see as much as we can. Also, we want to eat everything.

If you are staying at Lod Cook Hotel, then you will be in a great spot. You won't have to worry about traffic unlike the other 150k visitors.
I'd eat at the Chimes on Friday night. It's within walking distance from your hotel.
Saturday morning is going to be beautiful so I'd exit your hotel, turn right, and walk along the lake. It passes in front of all the sorority and fraternity houses. Not much tailgating but will be a pretty walk to start the day.
The rest of the day, just explore the campus. Don't worry about getting official invites to tailgates. You will have more than enough invites if you just go up, start a conversation and tell people where your are from. You'll have more booze and food than you'll know what to do with.
Make sure you see the band come down the hill prior to entering the stadium. Be in the stadium at least 30 minutes prior to kickoff if you want to see the whole stadium sing "Callin Baton Rouge". Have fun!

1. Chimes Friday will be a good environment lots of college stuff there.
2. Check the DandyDon.com website for the list of times like what time the band and team come down the Hill, the team etc.
3. It is an 8:00pm kick off so pace yourself.
4. If you get out there and are looking for a place to chill for a while and watch some college football Walk-on's is very close and a good spot and still in the thick of tailgating and can be a place to chill and eat.
5. Just carry an ice chest on wheels full of beers. If you see someone with some Jambalaya or Gumbo and want to try it just introduce yourself and tell them you are from Canada and will give them a beer for a taste.

I would actually not wear LSU gear when out tailgating (but maybe do so at the game), maybe let people know you are from Canada so that you get easily invited to every tailgate in sight.
Definitely want to be in your seat at least 30 minutes before kickoff to enjoy the whole atmosphere.

Tell them I said hi!! Seriously though, you will have a great time. All of the advice being given to you is spot on. Enjoy your time tailgating and in Tiger Stadium. Make sure you get in the stadium in time to see the pre-game. About 30 minutes before kickoff.

That sounds great! We will definitely do the beer for food trade-off.

Y'all are lucky this game doesn't start until 8:00 p.m.! It gives you all (and everybody for that matter) all day to get revved up for an awesome game.
Some other suggestions:
Tailgating near the Indian Mounds and the Parade Grounds is always great (but you can't go wrong anywhere)
The LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) Tailgate is in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center across from Tiger Stadium.
But also in that general area, there will be a band playing, food vendors, and you can view are dearly departed Mike's Habitat.
The players and coaches will probably march down Victory Hill around 5-530 ish I'd say, maybe later, followed by the Gooooooolden Band From Tigerland (DO NOTTTTTT miss that).
When you get into the stadium, BE SURE to get in early and in your seats BEFORE the LSU Pregame - the best in the nation. It will give you goosebumps.
Other places of interest around campus:
The LSU Union
The Campanile - Memorial Tower
The Quadrangle
and the aforementioned
The Parade Grounds
The Indian Mounds
Mike's Habitat
Tiger Village RVs
The PMAC and TAF

I was thinking the same thing. Canada is such a small place and everybody knows everybody. Kinda like living in Tickfaw.

Great replies already, but remember this line -
"Wow, that smells/looks really good! What is it?"
And thus you shall be fed till you pop.
