From watching this video in the first few minutes, first thing I notice is how many wide open shots are passed up.
I think there is a huge talent gap between teams in the 80s and today. Kentucky has a half dozen open looks on that first possession and refuses to take them. Pretty much any top team today would knock those down.

They sucked at playing defense. They are leaving them to take wide open shots, and they dont even take em. Looks like the reffing was really strict though

I think we lost 3 times to them that year, but beat them in the tourney.
