I'd like to see more goal line and less big cat

John Battle has really filled out since the season. Hope he can contribute this year in the secondary. We are loaded at safety but can never have to many studs back there roaming the middle. I'd love to see him in the rotation and be a special teams monster this year. Can't wait for some football.

More goal line/ Oklahoma drills and less Big Cat. Although I do like seeing the OL/DL working against each other.

Again, I have no issue with the big cat drill, but I hate how the spring practice links on the homepage feature almost nothing but big cat. Yesterday's, there was like screen cap of another drill at the bottom. It has it's place, but unless big cat is all they are doing now, lets get some more content up there.

I know we're all at the mercy of whoever is actually filming this stuff.

Agreed. Big cat seems a lot less physical now than it was a few years back when they first started it. The players all stop almost right after first contact now. Seems a little like pointless practice time.

Want to see more pads popping, goal line drill is great. shite I would love to see some form of Oklahoma drill in there. When I played, we had a drill called A drill. Blocked on O vs defensive player and one running back in between two pads with very little space left to right. Was very hyped and made everyone better.

Its most of what the media actually gets to see. Nothing they can do about it, you know they would film the whole practice if given the option.

I remember seeing a bunch of different drill clips at the beginning of spring practice. Did they start restricting media for those?

Actually, at the mercy of LSU and how much of practice they allow to be attended by media. Sometimes it can be as little as 15 minutes. If the Big Cat is all that is going on during the 15 minutes that is all we are going to get to see.

From Dandy's site:
quote:

Unfortunately, after driving 60 miles from Lafayette, the media were only allowed access to a few minutes of practice. When we were first let in, the team was holding the popular Big Cat Drill, which was quickly followed by two goal line battles.

quote:

The good news is that I got five minutes of high-definition video from those two drills to share with you. The bad news is that’s all I was able to get from the practice. After those drills, we were only allowed to see about two or three minutes of individual drills, which went by very quickly. I rushed over to where the quarterbacks were gathered, hoping to see some passing drills, but all they were doing was discussing/practicing ball security under the guidance of Coach Cam Cameron. Before I knew it, the horn blew

Yeah, all they get right now is pretty much big cat. Ive read a couple writers say as much. Miles has just been a little more guarded the past few years.

You gotta wonder if the passing drills look that bad.

So I guess the videos we get at the beginning of spring practice are just a tease until they really start to work on things?

Yeah i haven't even bothered looking at practice video because it's nothing but Big Cat for the past 2-3 practices.

I would not say the film from earlier practices was a tease. Don't forget, those early practices did not have pads. No pads; no Big Cat. Hence "actual drills/coaching".

I would like to see less of this video which shows nothing and some video on how the QB's are really looking right now.

I'm with you. The big cat drill in many cases looks like a wrestling match. I don't see how that time is all that beneficial.

This is such a worthless drill.
I can't believe they waste this much time on it.

Anybody remember the Oklahoma drill we used to do in high school?
That would be worth seeing.
This big cats drill sucks.
