State had a once in a century team in Starkville this year. They would have stayed on top but they don't have any depth. Arkansas I dkmt know. They sucked and we always play flat against them.

I know how crazy it sounds, but I just don't think we're a great deal better than Arky. Like last year we were 8-5, they were 7-6. Not much difference there.

You feel that way because you are the typical over reactionary sidewalk fan. You only live in the current moment and cant enjoy the long term success.

If you want to bitch about the team, then bitch about how we haven't beaten bama in 4 years, because that's a real thing. We are without question, a better program than all the other teams you listed.

If you like to gamble take Pigs and Black Bears against LSU every year when LSU is favored. Yes LSU wins most but rarely covers. Take LSU when they are the underdog but that rarely happens.

This one bothers me so much I needed to post.

I wish my life were so simple that all I had to worry about on April 16 were LSU vs. Arkansas football.

no more losses to Arkansas, Ole Miss or Miss State. Les is now losing to all three.

We beat Ole Miss this year in their best year ever…and Les has lost to Miss. St. exactly ONCE, in what was their best year ever. Ease up on the panic button and the generalizations.

I've had my share of fun over the years. But the last 3 years we've gone something like 27-12, which is good but not great--especially with the talent we're supposed to have. We've been a lower top-20 team during that time: again, good but not great, especially for the "top 5" talent we're supposed to possess.

I'm not complaining--just stating where I think the program is now: above average, good, but not elite.

And all your posts except for the last crawfishing post was about how we were closer to Arky than Bama as a program

Not beating Bama in four years should be your one legitimate gripe.

IMO, laying it all out there, the legit gripes are:
Not beating Bama
Losing to Clempson in 2012
Losing to OM in 2013
A continual history of terrible QB play since 2008, sans 2013.

I imagine if I had posted this, my list would be called "complaints."

Well, call it what you will--gripes, complaints, whatever. I'll call THIS a fact: we are not an elite (i.e., top 10) team going into the 2016 season. Hopefully, we can become on by the end of 2016.

That top 5 talent offensive talent wasnt playing for LSU last year... or the defensive talent in 2013...and was on crutches in 2012.

Please post the 2016 depth chart which leads you to this conclusion.

Les has lost to MSU exactly 1 time. That doesn't qualify as "now losing" to them.

We also just beat OM this year with their best team in 30 years.

I do agree on Arkansas though. Last game of the year, their super bowl, etc etc

If LSU beats Bama a couple of times in a row, I think everyone will feel better about the program even if the the Tigers split the next two years with Hogs and Bears.

Ole Miss and Arkansas hate LSU, and LSU is usually meh on these games from an attitude standpoint. Even when LSU beats these teams, the Tigers usually scrape by and it's a closer game than it should be. On the whole, LSU usually has more talent than both of these teams.

It was different last season because Ole Miss was undefeated and ranked in the top 5 and LSU was a big underdog. There were a couple of routs for LSU in the last 10 years, but by and large, when LSU wins, it's still usually close even though the Tigers usually have the better team.

Same for Arkansas games. Even in 2011, LSU were down 14-0 early before steamrolling them. Other than that, it's usually much closer than it should be.

For us to get back where we belong there can be no more losses to Arkansas, Ole Miss or Miss State. Les is now losing to all three.

Hyperbole crushes the credibility of your argument:

Les is 7-3 against Ole Miss. He's 4-1 over the last 5, and was 3-2 the first 5. The sequence for Les against Ole Miss is 3 wins, 2 losses, 3 wins, 1 loss, 1 win.

Les is 9-1 against Mississippi State - he won 9 straight against them.

The Arkansas is somewhat valid, as Les is "only" 6-4 over Arkansas, but is 3-1 over the past 4 years. So the sequence against Arkansas is 2 wins, 2 losses, 1 win, 1 loss, 3 wins, 1 loss.

Tap the brakes. Calm the frick down.

The only game that matters is Bama.

It's not only losing to Bama, it's the gut wrenching fashion in how we lose. Twice, them beat. Once, they shouldn't have been there in the first place. I know I shouldn't feel this way or say this, but I can absolutely understand the teams mentality after Bama losses. As a fan, it's hard to maintain the same intensity when the losses sting as bad as they do, and when the victories are rewarded with, you guessed it, do overs for Bama.

Arkansas has beaten us just 9 times since 1930!
That 9 times in 36 meetings over 8 decades.

Of their 5 wins against us in the 21st Century, 3 of the victories were by 2 points or less.
