I didn't call him a terrible person. It's just a bad precedent to set to remove a scholarship from a player that has done everything right to give it to a guy you kicked off the team recently. If that is indeed who is taking his scholarship.

Why don't we just say that Michael Divinity is getting his scholarship. Do we feel better about it now?

No more so than saying Valentine took his spot.

If he does take it, it won't be.

Divinty has been in school since January.

We were over the 85 then, too. What, are you going FIFO on this or something? Let's say it was Ed Alexander or Greedy Williams, then. Sci Martin, whatever.

Are they getting the scholly that was pulled 40 days before the season? What are you trying to do here?

He didn't have a scholarship pulled. That term has a meaning, one that you apparently don't understand.

What I'm trying to do here is show you that scholarship numbers don't work like you think they do. We're over and we have to get under. It is just as much Rashard Lawrence and Devin White and Greedy Williams taking his spot.

Not only that, but he didn't have "a spot".

At no point, ever, was a football scholarship offer used to entice Trent Domingue to play football at LSU. Not in 2012 as freshman, not in 2013 as a redshirt freshman, not in 2014 as a sophomore, and not in 2015 as a junior. In 2015, immediately before the season started, he was given a one-year scholarship because LSU failed to use its full allotment of scholarships for the 2015 season.
In 2016 Miles told him that he couldn't at this time promise him an additional 1-year scholarship, so he decided to leave.

This is not the same thing as a scholarship player being processed; this is this 5th summer in a row that Trent Domingue was going through summer workouts without the promise of scholarship to play football at LSU the subsequent fall, but this summer he decided he needed one.

So you are saying we need to find another scholarship if Valentine comes in?

I stand corrected.

It's a numbers thing and it cost LSU the starting kicker. It's not Les's fault, it's poor management by the compliance office.
Now you may say some other kids may have looked better in the spring but real games sometimes make a big difference to a kicker.
Next, starters are not given the starting job at the end of spring...you may have made a great run at the spot but camp right before the season is where the line up is formed and finished...Seen many guys have a great spring and get smoked in camp....They screwed the numbers up and it cost us our starting kicker who is nominated for a few NCAA kicking awards....
No, it is not normal for a preferred walk on to earn a scholarship and then not be renewed after you earned a starting job. Problem is walk on's do not usually beat out full scholarship guys like he did last year. Hope we can recover...

So it's all about a scholly when he's been PWO 3/4 years and didn't transfer?
Not so sure he gets scholly anywhere else either if he wants to continue education and FB.
Quite possible he has been passed up and just a streaky kicker that's still in that 3/7 November funk after making 10/10.

I don't believe Gamble is a consideration for kicking fgs. I believe he is a kickoff specialist and hope they let him kick it out.

I'm sure it's much easier said than done...but whatever happened to finding one kicker who can do both?
