Any updates on him? Here's the last I've heard:

quote:

“I think there’s a few people that don’t want me to play in the SEC,” Valentine said, “and I’m pretty sure who it is, but I’m not going to say.”

Valentine suggested that he was referring to another SEC school.

Can anyone explain how another school could possibly hold him up from coming here? That doesn't make much sense. Seems like everyone would be doing that for certain recruits throughout the SEC

I thought that to possibly be the case as well but would the SEC even care about a school outside of the conference when the NCAA had already cleared him? Makes me think it is someone in our conference. Maybe the Billy Gonzales rumor has some truth to it.

This has to be one of the more annoying offseason topics. One week he is set to be with the team, the next it seems like he is waiting more approval.

This is bullshite, he is a freshman, let the kid play football, this is the type of shite that makes the SEC look bad! This conference is only going to get worse since it will be able to govern itself in the future. you SEC

I'm with the SEC on this. I remember Oklahoma States Dexter Manly played four years of college ball and had an outstanding career with the Redskins. He couldn't read.

These academic clearances were put in place to end the most egregious cases of players who didn't belong in college. It's hard to prove, but I'd bet these hurdles have caused hundreds of kids to focus on learning, at least in their senior year.

Lastly, Valentine is, and would have been, a non-entity this year. In this modern era of LSU football (since Saban) there has never been a true freshman dlineman who made a meaningful contribution.

Oh did you have a problem with Eddie Lacy being able to get into Bama, but not having the grades to get in at LSU?

He means LSU hasn't had an All-American true freshman at DT. But I do believe he could see some quality time this year because of his sheer size and strength. LSU faces so many good rushing teams and just doesn't have another DT like him.

That's easy! Who does the SEC cater to? Answer: Alabama. No excuse for SEC holding him up. Especially after what they did for Auburn with Cam and HaHa Dixon for Ala. Think back to Akiem Hicks and compare what happened to Hicks and LSU with how Dixon was handled. Hicks not only wasn't allowed to play at LSU, he wasn't allowed to play for anyone else. He had to go to Canada. Clearly shows the bias towards Ala. teams. Remember, everyone working for the SECoffices LIVVES IN ALA.

Pretty sure Hicks was something LSU self reported to the NCAA, not the SEC. Different scenario there, hoss.

You're right. Lacouture was on the two deep as a true freshman. I'd consider that meaningful.

No, I didn't. I'm not sure what you're getting at, though.

I think all of this speculation about Bama getting special consideration is false. It's also the kind of speculation that losers engage in. When I look at the breaks that have gone for and against LSU over the years, they seem to even out.

The butthurt in our fanbase towards Alabama is super embarrassing. We have so much to be proud of as a program, and all we can do is project severe little man syndrome about how big bad Alabama always gets their way.

The fact that we are even talking about Alabama in a thread about one of our own freshman with clearing house issues shows how obsessed our fans are with that team in T-town. BTW, Bama has NOTHING to do with this and doesn't give a shite if we have a freshman D-lineman in fall camp or not. This is coming from BIlly Gonzales at Mississippi State who is still pissed he couldn't cut it on our coaching staff.
