Trai Turner is a BEAST! He's running down DBs and swallowing them. lol

that poor corner he just pushed 20 yards is probably not ever wanting to see him again

He is being considered as the best G in the league

My mom works with his mom, cool story I know.

Why did they redshirt him?

Most programs that didn't have to weren't pressing O Linemen onto the field until their 2nd or 3rd years until recently. With more camps and better training available to kids at younger ages, and some high schools really focusing on strength and conditioning throughout the year, you have guys showing up day one more and more prepared. The fact that Cam Robinson and Tehuma were able to show up and be effective as true freshmen are evidence of this shift.
Bottom line- if Turner committed to LSU this year, he probably wouldn't redshirt, and would at least see the field.

Hopefully Mr. Valentine can turn out like him after his redshirt

He didn't fly under the radar, imo. LSU fans just don't appreciate oline enough. He was clearly a mauler

This. He was a beast at LSU. Loved watching him play

Orrrr it could have been the fact that under stud our O line routinely got our QB killed against any and all blitz, stunts, and twists....and was good most the time run blocking but was inconsistent at that as well so most fans didn't think our lineman were very good

Every block that I have seen him make today have been domination blocks.

Why did they redshirt him?
1. He wasn't ready yet
2. Starters already established at his position
Turner didn't even start his redshirt freshman year until guys started dropping like flies.

I don't recall that, but I do remember some fans thinking Jonah Austin was the bigger time commitment

He was pretty out of shape coming in, if I recall, thus the redshirt
