Traffic issues? Could it be the reason people are leaving?

I see a lot of threads about people leaving early and how they suck arse as fans but what are the real reasons? Some blame it on Miles (probably partially true), while others say it was an 8pm game ( ) but really....

IMO the traffic has become nightmarish and very hard to deal with. The men in blue do a hell of a job, but it just isn't enough. Traffic is horrid...for the record I don't leave early, but I can't fault people who don't want to wait 2 hours to drive 10 miles down the road...

I did not sit in traffic for one second leaving the game and I didn't leave until the alma mater was over. Leaving because of traffic is just retarded.

I have a solution.

Wait until the game ends, go back to your tailgating location, drink more beer, and leave about 2 hours after that.

Well that's definitely a thought...

People need to stay at the game now to not deal with the traffic. When those ppl leave early, they are sitting in more traffic than a person that waits until after the singing of the Alma mater these days.

It took me 20 minutes to get home after I started my car up.

Bogus excuse.

Agreed. It usually takes me a total of 15 mins to get to the interstate from where I'm parked and it's smooth sailing. I get my money's worth when I go. I stay until the end so I may miss a lot of the traffic.

Traffic is absolutely the main reason why people leave early.

Secondary to that is the quality or lack thereof of our opponent, and when applicable, the poor performance of the Tigers.

I don't advocate leaving early or staying late. Everyone is free to do whatever the hell they want, when they want.

That's just my observation. Traffic is the culprit.

I walk home after games, but in at any other sporting event I've always done the exact opposite - WAIT as long as possible before leaving.

Hanging out an extra half hour or so - in the stadium, in the lot, at a bar, whatever - can make the traffic so much easier to deal with.

Not sure of these traffic complaints, I stay til the alma mater, go back to the tailgate for about half an hour and help tear down. Go to my car in the Kirby lot and its smooth sailing down highland to the interstate.

Must be the traffic bandits.

Seriously, if people are willing to tailgate for 6 hours before the game, then I don't see why they can't sit in traffic for 30 minutes to an hour.

"Traffic" maybe the reason given by a lot of fans, but I'm not so sure it's the real reason.

The traffic has been terrible since Katrina...so no, that isn't really the reason...

I never recall people leaving games early when it was that close before the past two years. The only time you ever seen people leave early is when LSU is killing someone and it is a shitty opponent...

The past two years have been different. People just get sick of watching how the Tigers play I guess. Fairweather/Bandwagon fans. Whatever you want to call them. A lot of people I know are on the boycott Miles bandwagon and have stopped donating to LSU...which isn't the way to go about it, IMO.

The traffic is terrible. Took me 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to college drive. I left after the alma mater. Same for the Miss State game. Something needs to be done.

I think some leave because they've been tailgating and drinking since early in the day and they're tired/hung-over and thus feel like crap.

I have a couple of genuine questions for you:

1. Where do you live?
2. Where do you park?
3. Which way do you leave?

I ask this because I park in Lot D and live in Ascension Parish and it is absolutely ridiculous how long it takes us to get home every Saturday. Last Saturday I stayed till the bitter end (like I always do) and it took me a little under 2 hours to finally get home. It took me just about 45 mins to get out the parking lot and to the redlight near Walk On's.

We did that, not leaving until Highland Road went back to 2 way traffic. Worked good on Saturday, Sunday morning, not so much...

TAF has converted LSU Gameday fans into your typical 'be seen' fans... much like Texas fans. Come late, leave early, ask somebody the score the next morning, talk sh**.

It's embarrassing, esp in a nail biter type game. People pay for their ticket so it's not my place to tell them what to do, but I simply don't understand why someone would go to all the trouble of fighting Gameday crowds to not see the best part of the game...or the entire game itself. It jut boggles my mind.
