Sorry if my title is not clear.

As a student at LSU from 1991 to 1995, I watched LSU suffer under Curley. I was thinking about what it would have been like to be a student now during the glory days and if Id trade my experience. I dont believe I would. I think, especially as an ex pat in Houston, that I enjoy it more now. Especially with all my aggie and longhorn friends. What say you?

I bet you were more involved with baseball then. there was less stress and pressure for the football program then ( who cares attitude )and ou would get more excited over a win no matter who it was than half the stadium clearing now in the third quarter unless its one game a year!

Trade hell yeah I would trade the time, curly bout crazy and joe dean was the lowest of the low for LSU FB. Tickets now are a lot harder to come by now than the early 90s. Going forward I really appreciate the program since 2000 even w/ a few bumps along the way errr the 2012 record).

I was at LSU from '02-05.

I wouldn't trade my time with anyone. I got to attend the UGA game at TS (my favorite), SEC champ, and the NC game. My last game as a student was Saban's last game at LSU. (cap one bowl) But it was worth seeing a Championship. Good times.

I was at LSU for the fall of the Dinardo regime and the rise of the Saban era. I would not trade our current success for our previous records during my time in school, but I also have never enjoyed a team as much as the 2001 SEC and Sugar Bowl Champions.

It is more fun to climb the mountain than to maintain your place at the top.

I was a grad student from 03-07 and also worked in some areas of athletics at this time.

Yeah, it was the greatest ever.

All good points from all the posts. It would have been incredible to be a student during this dominant decade but I think I appreciate it more now having languished during those years. I did grow up in BR so I was a kid during the Hodson regime etc.

It was phenomenal cause the fans hadn't been spoiled by our success yet.

Agreed - I can almost guarantee that you are not part of the fan base that comes in late and leaves early

I was there in the mid 80"s. I would trade the team now for the teams we had then in a heartbeat. Much more talent now and much more fun to watch. That being said, the atmosphere now sucks compared to then. We did not have to pay to park, tailgate, walk, breathe, etc. Joe "blue collar" could still afford season tickets for the family and as such the fans were much more into the game and crazy! The band was the center of the fanbase and the crazy music was not a big part of the night. No "neck" or other disgusting "gesturing songs" from the band as well. The fans still stayed until the end of the game regardless. The pressure to "win it all" or "you suck" did not exist and all of our wins were cherished. Most importantly the Tigers still played almost 100% at night which allowed tailgating to still be easy and fun.
So, I would switch teams, and recreate the atmosphere of then which I miss more than I can express.

'05 - '09 for me. Attended the BCS and multiple great away games. Saw some amazing players come through, both with LSU and with other schools. Got to experience a BCS and CWS Title, I can't ask for much more than that.

Only thing I would change is that the economy sucks when I get out of school, can an I trade that?

For that you have my deepest sympathy--that must have been brutal. Makes my time from 1978-1983 look incredible by comparison.

Got to see Alexander4Heisman in Charlie's last season, wouldn't trade that for anything today.

+1 here. Lots of aTm grads in my office, along with a few from Texass. Been fun the last few years having them more quiet than usual whenever the subject of CFB is raised.

I graduated undergrad in 2010 and my time at lsu was awesome. Graduated Grad school this December so overall I laugh at you and your shitty football days. I was going to games in the 90's but I am so glad I got to come here during the climax of football being.

'00-'06

The UAB debacle made the UT game mean alot more and the '00 UT game I think was the turning point for the LSU football program.

The whole student section showed up early, in full force, & hammered for the game; there was a will in the student section that we weren't going to let UT win.

That failure you experience in the UAB type games makes you really appreciate that last year only one team in the country could be on the field with us.

In '03 vs. OU in the Sugar Bowl, it was such a "wow we're here on the big stage" feeling that you wouldn't get now as an LSU student since we're expected to be there and win.

I wouldn't trade it, but my experience is comparable to an experience in the '90s.
