Top SEC SCORING offenses last 3 years

Neither yards/game nor yards/play win games. Points do. We aren't in the top 10 scoring offenses in the last 3 years, and are in the top 15 only once. But keep those purple colored glasses on.

the only stat that matters is who scored the most during that particular game. We failed in that aspect way to many times since 2011.

Quite obviously, you have to play defense too.
But, bottom line. An offense is on the field to score points and a defense is on the field to keep points from being scored.
A defense that gave up 24 per game but somehow had some great sub-stats would still be giving up 24 per game!
Well. An offense that shits the bed for scoring while having a few great sub-stats is the same.

only two of those top 10 teams are from this year. one of them had a worse season than lsu.

Our offense was mediocre no doubt, but our defenses lack of takeaways didn't help.

This is too simplistic. There are many, many times where an offense is on the field to keep points from being scored by the other team.

Oh fricking stop it.
Part of trying to "stay on the field" is that you have to progress the ball.
In fact, the BEST way to keep the other team off the field is to progress the ball until you can't any longer.
They call that scoring points. It's a funny thing. If you score 7, then at best, even if you did it in 2 seconds, the other team can only match you.

Well 3/5 are from 2013, including the SEC Champion and SEC East Champion.. so, to answer your question, championships typically.
