Top 10 recruiting class, #1 player in the country... Not even an NIT invite

And then the basketball program tries to pull a fast one on us by pretending that we just "declined a bid."
Did they think our fan base wouldn't see right through that?
Look, we all want this program to have success. A lot of people are dying for the old days where basketball was a big-time sport at LSU. However, does anyone really believe it's going to happen under this coaching staff?
The season ended in complete turmoil. No leadership on this team, and it seems like there's a ton of question marks heading into next season. We'll obviously lose Simmons, Hornsby, and Gray. I think it's doubtful Quarterman returns. Rumors flying all over about Blakeney's future here.
Bottom line: the roster is going to face a lot of turnover next season, and I don't think the talent will be there. And considering how much we've underachieved these past two seasons when the talent WAS there, that doesn't bode well for the Tigers next season.
So, the million dollar question? If another disappointing season next year would almost for sure mean the end of Johnny Jones' tenure at LSU, why wait until a predictably bad finish in 2017 to make the move?
This is the question our athletic department should be asking themselves. Why not now?

Be proactive and move on now. Epic, epic failure and the guy is in his dream job. How do frick that up so bad?

just think how jones will do when he won't have much talent to bail him out and actually have to coach some next year.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Mouth breather right here.
Erase the first two sentences and start over. And thanks for informing everyone of obvious things that have been discussed 3500000 times already.

the talent on this team was good enough for a NCAA bid and to reach the round of 32

15 automatic bids to the NIT. Teams like St. Bonaventure, Georgia, Florida, George Washington, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Houston (who beat us), South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and probably Alabama all ahead of us on the NIT line.
BracketMatrix didn't have LSU in on their NIT field projection. We were a bubble NIT team, at best.

No. It's the worst post of the day. OP sounds like skip Bayless with the hot garbage that is spewing out of his mouth.

Defend yourself, big boy. We're all waiting to hear your hot take.

Considering the hype and high expectations, this is the most disappointing season in LSU history in any sport.

And if you get rid of him next year say goodbye to getting Smart for 2017/18...

I mean after seeing what he couldn't do with Ben, no fricking way do you justify keeping him two more years to land a recruit

It's really the most disappointing season in LSU sports history.

essentially the same team as last year. Lose M&M and gain Benny, Victor, and Antonio...no other player on the team has improved since last year, hell some regressed...so much dead weight on this team...darcy, elbert, bridgewater, patterson, epps can't seem to get consistent playing time.
I laughed when people said this was a sweet 16 team

look me and numerous posters on here knew Johnny was not capable of running a major college basketball team. I Blame the AD for caving in and hiring JJ. Johnny should step down and AD needs to be fired along with the President.
