I would put...

Texas
USC
Florida
Florida State

...at the top...just b/c of availability of talent and resources.

Florida, Texas and California supply the vast majority of NFL players.

Then LSU because of the per capita - not as much talent as Cali and Texas and Florida of course, not even close - but per capita Louisiana has the highest % of NFL players.

I thought about putting Notre dame in my top 10 but I just don't see them being able to recruit like they used to back in the day. With higher academic standards and having to rely on out of state recruiting, I just don't feel they are top 10 anymore.

Texas....and no other job should be mentioned in the same breath.

I have nothing against the man, and hope he does well, but the fact that job came open last year and the best they could do was Charlie Strong makes me a little less hesitant to want Miles gone.

Notre Dame is still top 10. They're stuck in the past, basically a conference unto themselves; but no other program would have been anywhere near as successful as they have been in that situation.

I'd say they remain the big prize in conference realignment. They'd be perfect for the Big 10, but now that you have Maryland and Rutgers pushing it to whatever total, I think that conference gave up waiting on them. The Big East collapsed while waiting on them, and now the ACC is flirting with them.

You'd say they aren't a SEC team, but neither is Missouri. If they came, we'd take them in a heartbeat.

As for recruiting, they're a different beast. They basically have a 5 state block where they would seriously threaten the "home" school (in that area, probably only Ohio St can recruit their own state equally with Notre Dame), plus they can pull almost anyone they want nationally.

How do you not have lsu in your top 5? The one unique thing that lsu has that no other big time program has is a school instate to challenge them for the top talent in the state! With the amount of talent that Louisiana produces on a yearly basis this is a dream job. Many coaches have gone on recorded saying lsu is the best job in the country because of that, including Saban himself. Everyone seems to forget that Saban was coming back to lsu when the rumors of miles to Michigan were floating around in 07. He knows how easy it is to get top talent here. I do think that Texas is the top job along with USC but I don't think bama would be without Saban there.

The issue with finding a new coach is it doesn't matter how prestigous the job is, all the top 15-20 coaches are making bank. Most of them are in cushy jobs making bank. Why risk that job security to be at a top school making 10-20% more money? Why not coast and take the paycheck. Look at Texas Tech. That guy is making bank. He won't go anywhere until he feels his job is in jeopardy, which won't be for another 4 years because they don't care what their record is.

Ohio State has the same. BTW, you worded this to mean exactly the opposite of what I believe you meant to say. That LSU has no other school instate to challenge them for the top talent in the state.

Same as LSU. Not one of those schools are getting a recruit that Ohio State wants.

Replace Oklahoma with Notre Dame and I agree. Michigan should also be considered
