believe a guy who's coaching for his job on 4th and goal from the 1 can't get the qb and the rb to run the same play even after a timeout!
Whether that was a staff or player screwup, I haven't heard.

Obviously anyone who posts over 61,000???? times on a forum thinks they have something to say, but you have never proven you actually do. If you have eyes, you will see that this (nothing changing despite different coordinators) has been the pattern since Les has been at LSU. Its not profound, just quite obvious. And no matter how many time YOU repeat it over and over, you are clueless. As a matter of fact, the next thing you post will prove it.

But, a spread offense CAN and SHOULD be built around running backs like Fournette and Guice. We just need a QB that can deliver the ball. If Jennings or Harris can be that QB in 2016 - fine. If not, we need to get that QB ASAFP.
Completely agree. Look at Oregon's running back this year. 3rd in the country in rushing behind LF7 and Henry. You can run the ball very well out of a spread formation.

except the offense has changed a few times since 2005. anyone with eyes can see that.

Don't get my hopes up, man. This is exactly the kind of guy we need.

Well, I am pretty sure I know exactly what the offense will look like if he gets to LSU.

That's my thinking !!! QB needs to be accurate and make his throws consistently. QB needs to learn that little dunk passes to LF, Wrs or TEs are just as productive.
Damn QB is what is killing us!!!!\\
If BH is the best we got we need to find somebody who can teach him how to be a better QB.

The last 3 OCs did have varying styles, despite the Miles influence. I don't remember us using the toss dive much, if at all, during Crowton's tenure. We also didn't use the I as much, because we didn't have any great fullbacks for a year or two. I'm thinking 09 and 10. Anyway, Crowton ran a lot of shotgun and pistol. Remember the short side option? Ugh. That, and the fact that he was predictable because we had 1000 formations, but only ran one or two plays out of each one. Still, you could tell when Miles exerted some influence, because we would suddenly swing from running spread stuff to power and back again. His influence made Crowton's offense schizophrenic.
Then came Studs and Kragthorpe. They simplified things. Fewer plays and formations. Less complication, but still pretty predictable. The offense just executed a lot better for most of 2011. We started running more I. Didn't we start using the toss dive when they were running the show? We still ran some veer option, but started using more read option to suit Jefferson. Also, we switched away from the small quicker linemen and zone blocking back to bigger power guys and man. Considering that Studs was a spread guy and Kragthorpe ran a pass heavy offense, we know Miles was forcing his will on them.
We obviously ran a lot more shotgun in 2013 under Cam than we had seen for a while, and were much more balanced. But late in Studs tenure when things slipped and during last year and this year under Cam is where we see the most Miles influence. Once Miles didn't trust the QB, he put the clamps back on. While Cam's vertical passing philosophy is easy to see in our current offense, so is Miles conservative power influence. These are NOT a good match. Without a great QB, solid pass blocking, and perfect execution, it is very easy to defend if you can match up with the offensive line.
So all of you have a point. If you actually go back and watch, the offense under Crowton did look a lot different than what we are doing right now. Still, you can see Miles' handprints on each of them. I honestly don't think Studs and Krag were that good, so it really didn't matter. But I think you can see how detrimental the conservative power influence has been on both Crowton's and Cam's offenses.

That's with every team. Why does it seem LSU is the only SEC team that cannot get a QB that can improve?
One reason is the passing plays. Slants are easier to throw and easier for a receiver to adjust to, We throw few slants. Bombs are low completion percentage passes and we throw too many compared to how many passes we attempt per game. Blame anyone you want to. Coaching or philosophy, Cam and Les suck at both.

OK we need a poll! How many people here that are pushing for a new OC believe the new OC will be allowed to perform the job he is being paid to do?
Did Les keep his job on the condition that he take his hands off of the offense?

Do you really think any OC would come to LSU with a lame duck coach? There is no commitment past 1 year.

Jesus Christ himself could come down on a white cloud with a team of angels and warn CLM, under pain of mortal sin, that he must change his offensive scheme and Les wouldn't do it. Why do people hold on to the (repeatedly) disproved notion that the OC will have any effect on how this guy gameplans or coaches a game?

If Jesus is making an appearance at the football complex with a suggestion to "foster change towards the offense", LSU would become slinging fools....

Look at Oklahoma. They got Lincoln Riley from Eastern Carolina (pass happy OC) yet the lost nothing in their run game.
Oklahoma is 12th in rushing TDs, 16th in rushing ypg, and 21st in rushing average.
They went from 85th in passing yards per game in 2014 (203.5 ypg) to 19th in passing per game this year (307.9 ypg)
They went from 54.4% 6.9 ypa 17 TDs 17 ints to 67.2% 9.3 ypa 37 TDs 7 ints
Their defense didn't fall off a cliff and actually improved greatly as well. improving in scoring D (20.8 down from 25.9), total defense (350.7 down from 382.6), and yards per play given up (4.68 down from 5.14).
Why LSU doesn't run an offense that caters to ALL Louisiana talent, doesn't make since to me. These athletes should be in an open spread that utilizes the QBs legs and lots of short option passing with screens, slants, and swing passes.
