Have you been to Columbus? I have. It's a shite hole.
Look, I love LSU but Baton Rouge is just as big of a shite hole as any other place. Every time I'm back its like I took a step back in time 20 years.
Litter, people, white trash, Chem plants, take your pick. Baton Rouge is not some paradise and if you leave LA long enough you see why.

Herman is a very real candidate for LSU and will jump all over the opportunity.

Have you been to Austin? Have you been to Baton Rouge? We've been in the national news a lot lately--and none of it good. There are other factors besides just being able to win. I love Louisiana, but I was born here. Others may not see the quality of life being quite as high as places like Austin, or Los Angeles, or even Columbus. We are not just going to be able to write a check and get anybody we want. No school has been able to that in the last 20 years anyway.

but were not competing against Ohio state, hell most likely not even Texas. Right now, the battle is against UH if the job becomes available. I like our chances. LSU is a top 10 job in the country, not so sure why LSU people hate to admit that. The talent, the culture, the passion are something people like Herman love. This all could be a moot point but I will never understand why people want to downgrade the school that they cheer for.

Herman is the 2016 Simlin.

I agree have a chance, but timing will be important. Does he want to leave Houston now? For LSU or would he rather wait for his "dream job," whatever that may be.

Sure. So was Florida when they hired both Ron Zook and Will Muschamp. So was Alabama when they hired Mike Dubose, Mike Price, Dennis Francionne, and Mike Shula. So was Notre Dame when they hired Bob Davie, Tyrone Willingham, and Charlie Weiss. USC with Kiffin, Stark, and Helton and so on. It's not that easy.

Herman is a dream. He's never coming to LSU. Not saying Miles shouldn't go if he under achieves but LSU fans always assume we will get our first choice and that every coach in america will jump at this job opp.

I'm not saying it's a done deal. I'm not saying LSU could easily get Herman or that Herman is even interested in coming to LSU. I'm just responding to the internet rumors that he won't consider LSU because he's waiting on the TX job because he has mythical "ties" to the university. Not true. Hiring the right coach is never easy. It's as big a crap shoot as recruiting. Coaches have excelled at one stop and failed at the next. Belichick sucked in Cleveland but made himself a Hall of Famer at New England. It's never easy. No school knows if a coach is interested unless it communicates with him. LSU would be foolish not to make overtures and put out feelers to see if Herman might come here if the job becomes available. No, it's not a sure thing, maybe not even likely, but it's not impossible either.

At this point I'm not ready to move on from Les. If we do, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Herman is the only guy out there that can (probably) maintain and possibly exceed the success we've experienced over the past 11 years.
There are no guarantees with regard to coaching changes with respect to the new coach exceeding the accomplishments of his predecessor.

My point is, Herman is going to wait until the job he wants (whatever that may be) becomes available. That isn't LSU.
In addition, Auburn already has sent 'feelers' out to gauge the interest of Art Briles, and many are predicting him to land there. So who's left? The Memphis coach comes to mind.
