Why limit these threads to our SEC foes? Of course they're more respectful than our conference opponents, but still fun to hear from the other side.
Not a melt, but I liked this:
Off Topic:
Respect:

Defense *****ing up again...leading to their first run.

soooo...how about some rain

batting practice for lsu

Our fundamentals are pathetic. Botched bunt leads to runners on the corners, no outs.

Can't field either.
quote:
LSU playing sound fundamental ball. We are not. 4-0.
quote:
We look overmatched.

If you had told me that LSU would've only scored 5 through 7, I would've taken my chances. Offense is dead though.
Not a melt, but I liked this:
quote:
LSU is the hottest team in the country and a definite favorite to win it all.
Off Topic:

Topic or Off-Topic - Discuss: "Genders don't play sports. Athletes do." Explain.

If that were true, why would we have separate women's and men's sports?

Bases loaded 1 out and we get nothing. About sums up the night.

LSU's freshmen pitchers were impressive. Tip your hat.

I feel like a bully for even laughing at them a little

Not bad. No FIRE GRAHAM comments?

nice we need to keep this up for all teams we destroy.

It's probably about time for Graham to hang it up.
At that point Rice had no pitching left.
It just shows how premium defense is in the game now. That's been Rice's problem all year.
When you sacrifice defense for offense that's what you get.
The Rice offense was legit.
It's why LSU has 6 shortstops starting in the lineup!

Which is a reflection of how mature their fans are, or how immature LSU fans are.

Not really any melting in there. Rice knew the deal. Hell they should have and I think were happy to be were they were at the end after the regular season they had.
It's probably time for Graham to retire but I mean what is Rice baseball without that guy?

This. They were lucky to even make the tournament and made it to the regional finals.

You would think after 50 or 60 years of coaching he would have an assistant who learned a little bit and picked up on his style and contacts that would want to come back and take over
Working at 81 seems excessive to me, esp still having to be the main guy. Retire, relax, and consult. Let someone else have a chance.

Yeah but he's one of those guys that would be gone inside of 6 months if he retires. I hope he dies in the dugout somewhere.
I was laughing at the announcers last night who were talking about Graham's short mound visits. It's because by the time he gets out there, the ump is already there telling them to break it up.

I don't see much melting there.

It's almost cruel that Rice has to face LSU more often than not in the postseason.

I think we're something like 7-7 all time.

It was a bit painful to watch him walk out there and back.

Do you realize what happens to old coaches like that when they retire?
Posted on 6/5/17 at 3:44 pm to MountainTiger
Yep... It happens all the time, my wife works in a hospital and on many occasions when they are that old doing something they love to do then quit they die within a year or less. It's the same with the spouses, if one spouse dies the other usually follows closely after once hey get to 80. They also somehow know when they are about to die and start preparing. I'm not saying in every case but many. Crazy shite
