That basically says he's not good enough to be a playmaker when things break down.

Some of those "Under Pressure" is being kind. He had guys all over him/ in his face/ or running for his life on some of those. Better protection would allow better QB play.

After Sat. if you think Etling doesn't have the chops to be a good QB, you've never been one.

In fairness he will become gun shy through a game and scramble when it's not needed. He had that tendency last year, and it showed up again Sat.

I've "defended" DE. He is not shite. Nor is he a playmaker, he isn't going to make up for other deficient areas.

I am not for benching him for Narcisse/Brennen. If we had a playmaker, a better option even with a better performance record, I'd be for it. That option is there at this point in time. Plus, I'd hate to see a QB have to learn with these recievers. It's the ultimate frustration for a QB. It would be the opposite of developing chemistry. The season isn't lost enough to bench both Chark and Etling. To go ahead and develop a QB you might as well start with the WRs too.

However, someone above mentioned no turnovers. That is good. I will point out that no turnovers while still taking some risks and trying to make some plays. Which is different from the "no risk, no turnover" play of the past.

I agree that Etling was the least of he problems Saturday night. But, if we are really rebuilding, we might as well play the freshman and let him take his lumps.

My only concern is that the O line is so bad, he will be broken by season's end.

Not calling for him to be benched. He's not doing badly, just not very good. There are plenty of problems which need to be corrected and he is not at the top of the list.

Some of those calling for Etling to be benched aren't blaming Etling. The LSU team that was out there Saturday is fighting for a Peach Bowl invite at the end of the year. So if a great majority of the problem is youth...go all in on youth and start Brennan so that he can see what SEC play is and there are no "youth" excuses for next year. Having Brennan out there is much more beneficial to LSU than having an average QB in his last year trotting out there for an LSU squad that isn't playing for anything this year (based on how it looked Saturday). Now obviously you wait till the final horn of the Florida game before you do it, but if that game ends in defeat...gotta bring the kid in.

We can't run the ball, we can't pass protect, we can't catch, we can't execute a play without a penalty, we can't stop the run, we can't stop the pass...should I go on?

That's not the point. They would have eaten Brennan alive, too. But if he's our future we might as well get him prepared this year. No reason not to put him in the second half against MSU.

I'm not saying start him yet, but he needs more playing time. Now if we continue to stink it up, then it's time to start Brennan.

If we lose at Florida, I'm starting him at home against Auburn.

Wont matter. LSU is where backups are automatically better than seasoned starters.

We've got a qb that can escape the pocket and extend plays with his legs. He's just being looked over by fans

It still doesn't change the fact that he just isn't good.

Okay. Brennan is even less of a playmaker. Can he escape as well or better than Etling?

I truly believe that Scott would have given defense's head aches as our QB. But I am the only one who believed this.

You missed a crossing route that to Dillon that hit him in stride and he only got one hand up and deflected the ball away.

One thing is obvious with some of the young receivers is that on quicker plays or when Etling has to release the ball sooner under duress, they are not getting their head around quick enough. The youth of or WRs showed in that game. Orgeron eluded to that fact a few days before that the WRs weren't "there yet".

Also, can anyone recall plays where the WRs got any separation? Outside the TD to Chark that was called back I don't remember any. I saw Miss St receivers open a LOT.
