I'm very surprised to hear it, but Jones just told media members that Quarterman will start at PG tomorrow. Said he has talked to Hickey about his role.

I am completely shocked.

He also noted that it isn't really about starters as much as rotation. He will be trying to work out the rotation tomorrow.

Well I definitely am surprised. Hickey is a very capable PG and as a rumor it made sense to disbelieve it. However, you were right.

I expressed skepticism. But can you really blame me? I don't recall people calling you or anyone a moron.

Is it because he beat out Hickey or is there more to the story?

Jones just said that Jarell Martin at the three, Jordan Mickey at the four and Johnny O'Bryant III at the five will be a great combination.

The three of them has been a very good combo this preseason.

It looks like he beat out Hickey. Says Quarterman isn't only a 6'6" PG but he is a very good distributor.

That's a HUGE jump.

It's obvious that Quarterman fits Coach Jones steriotypical guard and may get more PT due to that, however, I wouldn't say that means he will be a 1 and done. I still think he is at least a 3 year player.

Every indication I've read says he may be too raw of a shooter/scorer to be a one-and-done. But who really knows at this point?

JJ said that there were "some things" that needed to be addressed with Hickey. Not sure what to make of that.

Maybe CJJ thinks Hickey can flourish in a 6th man type roll?

Maybe we are way better than everyone thought even with our optimistic views?

Assuming that there is no off-court issue with Hickey, everyone is going to play a ton of minutes, especially the guards and small forwards. His press and pressure sets provide a lot of opportunities in less minutes. It is a great way to keep many guys happy. You may play only 25 minutes but the style of play might produce an extra 2-4 possessions in that time as compared with the 30 minutes played in last years hybrid system.

Coach made it very clear that rotation would be very important. I think that means he may like Quarterman in with more of our scorers and Hickey in with some guys who may need more of an aggressive scoring PG.

there are always "things" to be addressed with Hickey, he is a good kid, but troubled

Think it can work out well, this will allow Hickey to be aggressive when he comes into the game
