I love TQ
Then I can't stand TQ
Then I love him again

Sampson should be playing. TQ is a ball hog, never comes up big in the clutch, and lost us this game.

No. Could not disagree more. Yes, he played terrible last night and should have been taken out for a while. From what I've seen from TQ, he never gets better throughout the game if he is bad in the beginning. Some players can play through a bad start and find their rhythm later in the game but he can't. Benching him Saturday is not the asnwer whatsoever. Start him and if he starts pulling the shenanigans he did last night with sloppy passes and poor shots, sit him and see how your other PG's play.

Out of our 24 games this year I'll say that he gave 100% effort for 40 minutes for maybe 30% of them
60% of the time it works every time.

The problem is that without TQ, this team doesn't go very far.
With the version of TQ that showed up last night, we also don't go far.
You would hope that when TQ struggles, the good Gray shows up. That didn't happen last night.
Also, this team has no depth down low. So when Victor is in foul trouble, it's hard to pull Ben from down low.
And Sampson just isn't close to ready. He is totally lacking confidence right now and is indecisive. I think he will be a really good player for us down the road, just not this year.

We need to quit bashing Quarterman. He is feast or famine and we have all known that for a long time. I have no idea why he would be considered an automatic early entry for the NBA draft. Yes at times he has the talent that looks like he is a lottery pick. But last night was what you get the other half of the time. No reason to be upset with him over it, I'm sure he would be "ON" all the time if he could. I like him as a sixth man off the bench. Bring him in and if he has it going you play him the whole game, if not then use him accordingly. I think that will be his best bet in the NBA.

We don't have the depth for him to sit, but it's pathetic. He has had like 5 or 6 games like this this year, but most of the time people just blame CJJ or Ben

Josh Gray on back to back drives, drives towards the hole throwing the first one off the top of the backboard and throwing the second one off the SIDE of the backboard.
And you're worried about 6'6" PG that actually plays defense? If Tim sits the entire game on Saturday we lose by 25

You mean the guy who fouled someone 35 ft from the basket with under 10 left in the shot clock when we were only down 2?
The same guy who quit trailing on a curl screen, then fell and let me get a wide open layup?

Quarterman was horrible last night. There is no way to sugar-coat it. That said, he is one of the most important players on this team and they aren't anywhere close to the SEC lead without him. To say that he never comes up big in the clutch is ridiculous. Without him LSU doesn't beat Kentucky, Alabama, or Georgia, and they get completely blown out by Oklahoma.
I like Sampson a lot, but he has done nothing in limited time during SEC play to warrant significant minutes. His best contribution to this team in 3 point shooting which in SEC play has been bad. He has missed several wide-open looks badly. He will be much better next season, but in no way, shape, or form should he replace Quarterman this season.
Everyone wants to say he's a "ball hog". That's probably true. But you know why it's true? It's because LSU's entire offense is predicated on guys creating for themselves and their teammates off the dribble. He is second only to Simmons in being able to do so. The general structure of LSU's offense is poor. There is a lot of standing still and limited ball movement. Quarterman has the ability overcome that by getting into lanes on his own and find scoring opportunities for himself and others. If he's not doing it, then that task is left completely up to Simmons. On defense he's tall enough to match up with most teams' SF (if necessary). Take him out of the equation and you are left with defending the other team's 3 with a guy who has a 3-5" height disadvantage OR being forced to play Malone/Robinson/Epps extended minutes so Ben can go out and defend on the wing.
Yes he picks up silly fouls. Yes his shot selection from 3 is sometimes suspect. Yes he makes some lazy passes. However, generally speaking, the alternative is much worse. This team needs Quarterman to make them go. They aren't "better" without him in the lineup

Yea that's the same guy that has aided in multiple wins this season compared to the guy who has aided in multiple losses this season.
Same exact guy. You nailed it.

Sure has. He has won us some games and lost us some. Johnny did show early on in the season he wasnt afraid to put Q in his place. We didnt have to deal such detrimental play for long periods from Q. But for whatever reason last night, Johnny decided to let him go down in flames.
