LSU still controls their destiny to win the SEC. All they have to is beat Ole Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama and Arkansas. No hill for a stepper.

Some interesting point spreads this week. LSU is up to 6 over Ole Miss. That seems like a lot of points to give a good team.

Auburn is 9.5 over Arkansas. I don't see Auburn being that good or Arkansas being that bad. Would anyone consider Arky beating Auburn this year a big upset?

And then you have the evil empire a whopping 17 points favorite over number 6 rated Texas A&M. I wonder how many undefeated teams at week 7 of the season are 17 point dogs.

Ironically, even though LSU is not ranked in a number of polls, they would probably be slightly favored over A&M if they player in BR.

Vegas knows.

Why does everyone keep saying this??? No we don't. I get it, yes if we win out, blah blah blah. Go ask Auburn what happens if they win out, Oh yeah the same thing that would happen if aTm wins out. Or Bama for that matter.

A couple teams control their destiny in the SEC west, and none of them play in Louisiana.

Still need Auburn to lose. I know a lot of people assume they are losing another game and I highly doubt they're winning out as well, but we have just as brutal of a schedule as they do coming up so I don't understand why so many of our fans are discounting Auburn controlling their own destiny, because you know, they actually do right now and we don't.

It's one thing to be wrong making a comment in a post, or even the whole post, happens to us all. But the thread title?

That's a bold bet there!

Would you also bet that the Saints won't win the Super Bowl this year?

Duh me, forgot about Auburn. I guess I just just chalked up a loss in my head to bama in a game they have not played.

My bad. It does remind me what a ruff crowd you guys have here though.

Its still a very exciting five game stretch we have where if somehow we did win out our hopes are alive.

I don't think you understand what "controlling your own destiny" means. We need Auburn to lose. Therefore, we do NOT control our own destiny. Once/if they lose then we jump in the group of teams controlling their own destiny which includes a few teams at the moment.

it's still early in conference schedules. Probably half the teams in the country still control their own destiny in their conferences.

I saw that. And I mean there is definitely reason for optimism given what Coach O has done so far and the talent is most definitely there. I don't think we're trying to be Debbie Downers here and saying we shouldn't be excited for the upcoming slate of games and the potential of this team. I think we're saying there's just no reason to go throwing around statements that just are objectively not true.

You know, I think you can go change the name of your thread. Just add "With a likely Auburn loss to Bama" before "Tigers control their SEC destiny".

Unless I glossed over a rule on the tie-breaker page, LSU could still go the SEC title game without Auburn losing. If LSU and Auburn win out with A&M only losing to us, then that would be 3 7-1 teams that only lost to each other. It looks like it would come down to the records of the East opponents. So, we would have Florida and Mizzou. Auburn would have Georgia and Vandy. A&M would have Tennessee and South Carolina.

Still don't control our own destiny. Need A&M to beat Alabama in this scenario. At any rate, finish it. So who would win the 3-way tie?

But that's still not controlling your destiny. Your chances still hinge on factors outside of your control.

We could conceivably win out and still not win the division. Therefore we do not control our destiny.

This was up to 19.5 this morning, I just don't see the gumps being that much better than the ags.

No we don't. We will have a 7-1 record, so will the gumps. IF we win out- we will have head to head wins over every team in the west, except for Aubie. Aubie has yet to play the gumps. We only need to win out, and have aubie lose one more in the west.
