Vuvuzelas are those loud annoying plastic horns. Sounds like a plague of locusts.

Probably some kind of Birmingham bullshite restrictions eh? Anyone know for sure?

Pretty sure those fall under the noise maker policy Mississippi State ignores every year.

Permitted, but not during play.

Moo State has special permission from Gump Central in Birmingham because it's "tradition."

In a response to an email asking to confirm media reports that the loud horns used at FIFA World Cup games will be allowed at SEC games, Bloom wrote the following:

"Our policy allows for ‘traditional' artificial noisemakers to be allowed in stadiums and played during specific times. Other forms of artificial noisemakers are not allowed. I do not believe a vuvuzela is tied traditionally into one of our institutions."

They sound frikkin hilarious on the World Cup footage. Hilarious and apparently very effective.

What a load of shite.

Other than fricking Moo state cowbells, I wonder what else falls under "tied traditionally"?

What if it's purple or gold? Or purple AND gold? Or has an LSU sticker on it?

Why do you want to produce an admittedly annoying sound?

I Remember on my honeymoon we were watching the college World Series. After it went off it switched to soccer some World Cup stuff when it was in South Africa.
I thought something had gone wrong with the TV. Sounded like a swarm of bees.

Exactly. Moo State is the only school with artificial noisemakers that the SEC considers to be traditionally tied to the school.

What if Tiger Band decided to blow horns and bang drums while the opponent was on offense? TGBFTL is an LSU tradition as much as cowbells are for MSU.

The SEC would slap us with a fine so fast.

Mostly to annoy the other teams. And also be able to talk that night instead of being hoarse from screaming. Pretty smart if you think about it.

Anyway, today's probably the last day to order if you want to get it in time and try your luck.

Translation:

"MSU's cowbells have not yet cost BAMA anything. As soon as they do, we'll look into this and address it."

It's tolerated because MSU has traditionally sucked, not because the cowbells are traditional. If LSU had used something like this and it could be seen as a threat, it would have been stopped with the fricking quickness.

Honestly...instead of celebrating this MSU ought to be kind of pissed knowing they are seen as no threat to anyone.

I agree, but you know how it goes when it comes to us and the SEC head office.

If Bama fans suddenly started bringing bullhorns into the stadium, the SEC would say it was tradition and allow it.
