What has happened? I graduated in 2002 but to me their has been a change in the feel of game day.

I think it is due to ticket process going up. LSU football games have been victim to the financial gains and introduced to wealthier bandwagon fans that want to jump off when they are not "getting their monies worth"

This is not a thread about how much the coaching sucks but why our fans suck and I'm curious to know what y'all think. My opinion is that it's the rise in prices.

I think Les Miles does need to retire or do something different.

I think Alleva needs to come up with something creative to get our rabid fan base back.

2 BCS National Championships, 4 SEC Championships, 2 stadium upgrades, and numerous ticket price increases.

I graduated in 1977. More people now but less noise. When I see people complaining about phone reception, that means not focused on game.

In the 90's, lsu wasn't a national power. People would still go to the games and have fun, because there was nothing on the line but hoping for a winning season. Lsu, for over the past decade, has been a team stacked with nfl talent. LSU is now a known brand in the collegiate football world. With that, comes expectations, a different kind of attitude, and the game having more of a professional type of feel to it. Times have obviously changed enormously compared to the 90's, and a whole new generation of fans have emerged. LSU is not longer a losing program. We are winners with some of the best athletes in the nation that most coaches would kill to have, and our fans expect a better product than what was given last night. It's not just that LSU lost, it's the way they lost. They did not even look like they knew they had a game for a week, as everyone sleep walked through the game. It starts at the top with coaching.

I told you two years ago in a very long post that LSU was sterilizing the game day experience. This is what I meant.

I didn't mean fans were poor. It is just that as things grew more expensive but the game day experience was cheapened, fans were going to choose more strictly what to do with their money.

Think of a bar that raises prices while watering down the drinks even if it serves a good steak. You don't order the drinks as much, do you?

Corporations vs. middle class. The former gets the seats and the latter is shoved aside.

Most definitely and prices went up when we started winning. That's the downside to winning. You lose the diehard in the stands and you gain the "Next trendy thing" people and people who can afford to spend money on football.

The fans I sat with from 1995-2004 were 90 percent gone by 2005. That was not a coincidence.

I used to go to every single game -- no matter. And I had moved away from BR and went to more games then than I do now and I live in BR again. I cannot explain it -- but it is not as fun as it once was. I am hoping that changes and for it to change, I have to figure out why I do not enjoy it as much.

Deuces nailed it.

It was once all about going to the game and having fun. The experience did not cost a whole bunch. It was good fun even if LSU lost because we were not able to relate with what we now have as our identity. Now, we expect to win and athletes come here to escalate and expedite status to the NFL. The parking and whole experience is costly. The product is not as appreciated. The people who now go to games could not have cared less 20 years ago.

I've been going to games since I was 5 years old. I'm 48 and graduated from LSU in 1990. Here's my take:

1. All games are on TV or internet.
2. The rabid fans have been priced out.
3. Overexposure to the game with 24/7 sports channels and analysis.
4. Fans do not believe they are "needed." I believe fans used to see they could make a difference.
5. No sense of urgency from fans.
6. University makes it difficult.
7. People are busier.
8. Team is not fun to watch.

i can't stand my i3, lol. i wish we didn't have cellphones tbh.

i've been a tiger since i was born, but the first year i really pulled for em, had strong feelings, etc. was 1982, my first year of little league.

we've seen a lot during the last 34 years i've been religiously following lsu, but getting a load of bandwagon fans was gonna happen with our success this decade.

i can understand everyone bitching about miles, i do it myself.

i really just wanna beat ole miss next weekend.

I used to absolutely love going to games but its a pain in the arse to goto a game now. You can't park within 3/4 mile of the stadium without paying. Tickets cost a fortune. With the exception of 2011, the product on the field has not been great since miles' first few years, despite the great talent that has been here. And to top it off traffic after the game is a nightmare if the crowd stays the whole game. Fans have every right to be fed up with performances like the one last night.
