Tiger Bait Guy

Do any of you old timers remember the guy who would belt out "Tiger Bait, Tiger Bait...." The man had lung capacity and if I remember correctly he sat in the north end zone. You could dang near hear him throughout the stadium. This would be a 1970s, 1980s thing.

No, do you know the guy that yells... "Baaaall 4" at the baseball games ? Sits down a few rows to my left, loud mofo.

I remember going to the box when i was little, like early 80's. We would also go to the Busch Challenge/Winn Dixie Showdown in the dome. There was always this guy with a tiger striped chapeau there yelling all kinds of crazy shite. I believe his nickname was "The Flea".

I think they called him Red. I can remember him in PMAC and at Tiger stadium when I was a kid.
He also had a metal megaphone about 8" lg at TS.

you are talking about Big Red....used to sit in the North End Zone and you could hear him all over the stadium....

We called him Big Red. He was awesome! He used to piss off the opposing coach at the baseball games when the coach walked out to the mound to talk to the pitcher. Red would yell out "Hup, Hup, Hup" for each step the coach would take. We all joined in with him. Sometimes the coach would hesitate in his steps, just to throw us off. It was quite funny.

Big Red was there during my days in the early 80's. Very highly respected fellow.

I remember him back in the late '70's and in the '80's. One instance I remember when I was a kid in the '70's was him yelling Geaux Tigers into the LSU locker room every time the door would open before a game. Back then there was just a door on the North side that players and coaches would go in and out of to get to the locker room. Seems strange in this high security age we live in.

yeah he was Big Red. Worked at the Times Pic. Passed away oh probably 20 yrs ago or better.

I remember him at LSU BB games at the PMAC when I was a student from '80 to '84. He would stand up in the stands, I think across from the student section, before or sometimes after the warm-ups, and yell "Tiger Bait! Tiger Bait! Tiger Bait" and it would reverberate all over the PMAC...

There's a guy that's about 15 rows in front of us and about 15 seats to our left in the SEZ Upper Section.
Once the band starts down for the field before halftime, he imitates the band & three sections hit the "Geaux Tigers!" with him. Hilarious. I love those sorts of mini-traditions.
