Wofford, Lochridge and Romero were 4 of 6. The rest of the team was 4 of 39. Even Fraley, our best returning hitter, was 1 for 5. Weird game, but a great way to kick off the season.

Even with great pitching I doubt we'll see a conference championship this year, but they'll be fun to watch.

I knew we lost a lot from last year's team, but I thought we could reload. After seeing the lack of hitting last night against a nobody team with team ERA of 6.0, I don't expect much of anything this season.

First games are kind of like that. I think last year we only had 4 or 5 hits in the first game.

ETA: Granted Cincys pitching was supposed to be horrendous. Maybe that will play out today.

We did...if you watched the game there was several hard hit balls that either were straight out the infielder or their infielders made a great play to save runs...

That was their ERA last season, doesn't mean they are the same pitchers they were last year...

Then stop watching...it was the first game of the season...last seasons opener we only had 6 hits all game in the win over Kansas and came back in game two and had 11 hits...stop reading so much in one game especially the season opening with a lot of new players...

1 game out of 56 regular season games and you just jumped off a bridge.

This is why I love the rant

Dude.... Do you know anything about baseball? Did you play past t-ball? If so, then how can you make a statement like this off of literally the first game of the year?

The worst part of this is it just isn't like this in baseball or football. My wife has season tickets for gymnastics and has been asking me to go... I go last night to put in my time and the 2 fat bitches (no it alls that were no less than 250 a pop) that sit in front of her did nothing but make statements like this all fricking night and complain about the moves. Why come? Why watch? Do yourself a favor and take up curling or something.

I realize you made a positive statement in the same breath... But frick man. Wait till conference starts before you start making generalizations about what this team can and can't do. we all know they are young...

The #3 team Vanderbilt lost to San Diego. I guess someone should tell their coach to pack things up not worth playing remainder of the year.

It was the first game for an extremely young team that is going to need to gain some experience before showing what they are truly capable of.

Now, here's my assessment. I got home late, so I didn't see the order the first time through, but I LOVE what I saw from Duplessis. He looks so confident up there and puts a great swing on the ball. I don't see him striking out often, and if Kramer doesn't work out in the lead off role, I think he would be great there. We hit some really hard balls last night, just right at people. The only one who really concerned me was Freeman, and he at least battled. I think he's going to see a steady dose of curves this year. Last night was a battle and to see a young team fight through adversity like that was exciting. This team could be scary good late in the year.

You've got to be kidding me, man. The first game of the season and you make that kind of prediction? Baseball is a rhythm game first of all. The more you play, the better you get as a team. Second, you literally just predicted this off the very first game of a 56 game season.... What the frick have you seen in one game that leads to this? The ink on the lineup card hasn't even dried yet. Relax, it's a long season.

Dude...Do you know anyrhing about reasoning? I didn't make a statement "literally" based off one game. I based it off the fact that we returned one position player, and although we should have very good pitching, I thought it would take most of the year before the young hitters learned to hit SEC pitching. I also based it off my observation that several of our young hitters looked completely unable to get a good swing at an average college curve ball. That's typical for young guys, but still...

As to my baseball knowledge, I would call it middling at best... about like your ability to reason and discuss.

We'll struggle to score runs all year. Lost too much from last year and replacements aren't as good. Wait until we face decent pitching in conference- it'll be hard to watch.

I was perfectly relaxed. Notice the cheers emoticon? Notice that I said they'd be fun to watch. As I told the other prick, I made no prediction based on the first game. That prediction (If you could call an "I doubt" statement a prediction) was made BEFORE the first game. Just like BEFORE last year's first game I predicted they'd be serious contenders.

Do you, and that other idiot (who doesn't know the difference between "no" and "know") really not make predictions before the season? I love LSU baseball. I'm going to really enjoy this season. If we're contending for the SEC championship heading into the last two weekends I'll be thrilled and surprised. If not, I'll just enjoy watching our hitters develop so that next year we can field another championship contender.

In the mean time I'm going to enjoy a beautiful day of baseball. Of course I'm predicting this based on the first hour of weather I've seen. I hope this doesn't offend you.

Again.... Just b/c we are young doesn't mean shite. No one knows anything about how these guys will react to no longer being a platoon guy at best. These kids were all studs prior to being here... Give them a chance to get some at bats under their belt and then start to make conclusions from there. Are they young? Yes? Can it be 2-4 runs all year yes.... shite, it's baseball... If they came out gang busters right if be more worried b/c the slump would come at some time. They are better off easing into and learning to play together at this time then beating the shite out of people. It teaches them somethings they wouldn't get otherwise.

Plus, they fricking won in 10 innings last night. On paper they should have beat the shite out of them... But they didn't, however they showed some resolve and some balls and won the game. What they hell more could you ask?
