3 or 5 receivers, that is what happens when you hold the ball too long. JJ happens to do that far too often and puts the offense in bad down & distance situations.

Have you looked at the coverage downfield?

I saw the coverage downfield. I was in the south endzone and had a great view. Randle had man to man with a safety over the top.
Should've thrown it away immediately.

He should have thrown the ball away earlier but NFL qbs do this crap all the time to avoid sacks if there is a running back in to block they will throw it at their feet because they are an eligible receiver.

ETA Im not trying to say JJ has the awareness of an NFL qb just saying it was a bad call

Coaches pretty much set JJ up to fail in that situation. Only one receiver and zero checkdowns from your own endzone, really?

Dude, they were at least 5 yards away... and considering they were within 4 yards of JJ when the ball was thrown away from them...

I went back and watched it and Im no expert on judging distances but JJ was about 5 yards in the endzone when he threw it and they were backed up a yard or two when they were blocking on the right side of the line which is where he threw it. Id say the ball bounced 3-4 yards away from them. Oh well either way not that big of a deal

How many receivers did you want on that play? Its not like JJ had time to run through his progressions.

Hey, the play call wasn't the greatest, but I don't know why JJ expected the receiver to get open given the coverage and I would rather he tries to get free of the sack or take the safety instead of just throwing the ball up for grabs. On the reply it is very very close to a lateral.

JJ is a fourth Year player that has started over 2 years worth of games.

The coaches should be able to call a single receiver route without "setting JJ up to fail".

By now he should be able to make the read and throw the ball away if he can't throw to the receiver.

QB 101.

This is what makes it even worse. JJ knew his only receiver was covered, but he just sat in the endzone. When he realized Randle was covered, he should've chucked it into the LSU bench.

Blame the coaching staff. WTF were they thinking??

He was in the end zone, he has to know to get rid of the ball.

ETA: There weren't any checkdowns so it was pretty simple. If he isn't open throw it out of bounds or where only he can have a chance to make a play on it.

Why throw the ball at all? just hand it to Hilliard, and try to get some yardage, if anything, before you boot it the F outta there?
