Thoughts on this Musselman quote re: Jones?

Seems odd being that one of the reasons he left LSU was because Jones basically tied his hands and wouldn't let him do much.
This hire is just weird to me.

Find it odd and surprising as well.... guess recruiting overrode the other stuff

Look, everyone wanted Johnny to succeed at LSU.
They were decent when Musselman was on staff and won games in a watered down SEC with not much talent left over from the Trent years.
Over time, the SEC started adding better coaches, Jones assistant hires were lackluster, what the hell was Suhr on staff for.
Simmons alienated most of the team and the team morale was very low and Jones never got it back. Players didn't respond this past year but this staff did not recruit very well and they knew Simmons was one and done. Very little talent on last year's roster and no depth in post really hurt them and getting outcoached every single night and even out of conference by VCU and Wichita sealed the deal.

Not sure what your post has to do with the quote. But thanks for contributing.

Its the coaching fraternity, jj needed a job, so mussleman returned the favor. What did you want him to say in the quote?

The reason he left LSU is because he got the HC job at Nevada. Why would he want to remain an assistant when he could be a HC with a pay raise?

He's not bringing Jones in to teach defense or structure the offense. He's bringing Jones in because he's a decent recruiter and experienced coach. Jones was a horrible choice for LSU's HC, but he's a good lieutenant

You can be a good "mentor, leader or teacher" without being a good head coach.
I kind of wonder why you find it necessary at this point to open a thread hoping that people will throw shade on Coach Jones.

This
Johnny is a great guy and a good person. I just don't want him head coach of a basketball program.

You are an ignorant dumbass. Musselman left LSU for the NBA, not Nevada. In fact, he went BACK to the NBA. You should at least take the time to check out what you post before enlightening us.

Musselman was at LSU for the 2014-15 season. He became the Nevada head coach in 2015.

Maybe you should be working and not on TD. Ever think of that?

great hire for Musselmann
dude can recruit and won't be able to input coaching decisions. Nevada has what LSU should have done
