Watching the 1993 and 1999 games with Hallman and Dinardo, it amazed me:
A: How little talent Hallman had overall,
B: How many young talented players Dinardo had that Saban utilized later.
Has anyone else watched one/both the games? What did you think?

99 team had a great core of players. Dinardo just didn't know what to do with them.

I had surgery to remove the Hallman years from my brain.

I did. Not many - especially the starters on that team. How many did you count?

The Hallman team never lacked talent. They were plenty talented enough to have been in bowls ever year. The problem was the head coach and lack of direction.

Hall man could recruit fairly well. Not great, but wasn't terrible. His problem was he made no adjustments and the team wasn't well conditioned. We lost so many games in the 2nd half after a halftime lead or very close at half.

58-3 at home to UF also.

I've always wanted to reach the '99 game against MSU. Where did you find it?

I agree they had some exceptional talent, at a couple positions.
Kennison, Mawae, and a couple of others, stood out from the rest.

In looking at this year's team, there are superstars all over the field.

Just hoping this year we can utilize what we've got…

IIRC, that 99 team had a lot of OL injuries and that did them no favors. besides that, they seemed to have a lot of inexperience at some of the skill spots (though Jerel Myers played well for a freshman).

really wished for better for Mealey. he had that one TD run against UGA where it seemed like nobody blocked and the whole defense was 5 yds deep in the backfield at the snap. he broke 17 tackles to get to the end zone. true story.
