Though the chances are quite slim at this point, less than 10%...

During one of yesterday's games, some bloviating commentator made the remark that the CFP Selection Committee's most important job is to choose the best four teams for the college football playoffs. Part of the conversation included Texas A&M's chances, and a comment was made that the Committee also takes injuries into account. Of course, he was referring to Trevor Knight who is done for the year.
Let's take another variable into consideration. If LSU wins the last two games convincingly, it will finish with a 6-1 record with 5 convincing wins over SEC opponents with the only loss to the almighty Gumps (while holding them to 10 points nonetheless). Is it possible that the Committee could take our coaching change into consideration while determining the best four teams? If they can factor in injuries to key players, why not a change in coaching and the results that came thereafter? We're considerably better than almost all of those teams ahead of us - including the # 3 team. We would beat the crap out of Louisville.

This would take a number of unexpected losses by teams ahead of LSU. Then the committee would have to make the subjective determination that a three loss LSU team would be more worthy than 6 to 8 teams with 2 losses.
The LSU position would be stronger if they had lost 27 to 17 to BAMA with more offensive output and BAMA sealing a closely contested ten point win with a late field goal.
Donald Trump is the president elect so don't rule out anything. Most likely is Sugar Bowl vs Michigan which would be a feature matchup.

the whole purpose for the creation of this top secret committee was to head off any hint of two SEC teams playing for a national championship....so warranted or not, it ain't gonna happen.

We lost to auburn and Alabama, so we have 2 conference losses. Playoff chances are done. Best we can play for is the sugar bowl.

Unfortunately "body of work" is a factor and LSU put themselves behind the 8 ball after just 1 week into the season. Losing to Auburn was a tough pill to swallow but losing to 'Bama at home w/o scoring a fricking point was the bottom of the barrel. I'll settle for 2nd best team in SEC. That's what we need to shoot for every season. 'Bama is 'Bama as long as Saban and the refs contine working together year in and year out. That B.S. in Tiger stadium was pathetic - from a referee standpoint. Nothing against 'Bama but the zebras missed EVERY call that could have given LSU better opportunities to score - particularly the "4" offsetting penalties when it was obvious 'Bama should have been flagged. Our defense could end up the best in the country. They have been a blast to watch all season! Geaux Tigers!

What is it with the wannabe bloggers tonight?
The Auburn loss kills us, when BAMA skull drugs them it will look even worse, get over it

If the criteria is the "best" 4 teams we would be in.

If we only had only 2 losses we would have a chance. Thus there is no chance and it's our own fault.
The best we can hope for is to beat Fla and TAMU, hopefully go to the Sugar, win that game and finish in the top 10.
