Without Winston, he did very avg in what was the weakest conference for the time period.

He won 12 games the season before Winston's first year and put 49 on Clemson in a 10+ point win while LSU put up 24 on Clemson and lost to them in the bowl game with Mett, Jeremy Hill, OBJ and Landry.

Sometimes lightning strikes. It doesn't mean a coach can consistently do it. Mack Brown only had one Vince Young. I'm not saying Jimbo wouldn't put a good product on the field. (although I'm less sold on how he'd run the total program.) But basing future performance on past results is always a crapshoot. Nothing is guaranteed.

Winston was a plug and play player. Still, Chip Kelly should get first look.

winton redshirted his first year. Kelly doesn't like to recruit and said on national tv during a halftime interview that he doesn't even involve himself with defense

And it also has FSU, UF, Miami, UCF, and USF. Spreading that talent really thin...not to mention the LSU's of the world also recruit Florida well.

Louisiana has aTm, Bama, AU & occasionally MSU and OM poaching talent. People acting like LSU is in a better recruiting state than FSU are outside their fricking minds.

Maybe because with all of these wonderful qualities he and miles will likely finish with same number of losses....AND he coaches in the ACC. But ...we get it.. The kids that have never gone through a coaching change have it all figured out. BTW...coaches of this supposed quality and talent should not be losing games by 40 points.

But LSU recruits itself...that's what we have been told.

And that's perfect...hire a too DC and get out of the way.

Chip Kelly would kill it in LA with the talent at his disposal...and a great DC.

Like Miles striking lightning getting LF7 and still running the same run into a wall plays with no strategy to his overall offensive game plan?

Stevo this is very much true but its pointless...for one we went after jimbo and for two you can't tell all these college kids anything...they know it all despite never going through a coaching change at LSU. I suspect they are going to be pretty surprised when fisher comes in and isn't the savior they think he is.

I'm not against jimbo honestly...he just isn't going to win more than miles like many seem to think...but it was time for miles to go. People like to bitch at miles for playing down to comp. They might want to check out some scores from fisher over the last 3-4 years against far inferior teams.

Florida is great for recruiting, but LSU is the only deep south power 5 conference team that has no in-state competitor. A lot of kids grow up wanting to play for LSU and no other state school. In Florida, there is competition, so there is a difference there. Also, Louisiana is often #1 or #2 for NFL talent production. Coaching at a Florida school is still great for recruiting though.
