Les needs to take a long look in the mirror here. This is going to have most LSU fans in a huge uproar. This has shite written all over it. I dont like whats going on with our football program, not one fricking bit...

Why can't it simply be the fact that A&M offered him a better deal than LSU?
Posted on 12/31/14 at 12:36 pm to The Sockster
Because its not simply them offering a better deal. Dude jumped off of a sinking ship...

That's the problem.

I don't see why there has to be much more to it.
LSU gave him the standard raise/extension
A&M dropped him an insane offer
LSU balked at it
Chavis to A&M.
There doesn't need to be more to it than that.

What do you want Les to do? He said he wanted Chief back, the athletic department said they would not match the better offer. That's not Les' fault

There's more to the story.
Anybody who doesn't realize that is blind.

There has got to be a little bit more than just a better offer. IMO LSU > ATM for any coaching position, regardless of the money.
But what I want to know was it the money or was it the Les Clause that LSU put in the contract.
I think this is much more of Alleva than anyone else.

We all know who runs LSU Athletics, in particular Football. It's the major boosters, sponsors, TAF, etc. My brother always told me; "if you want to know any information, follow the money".
Miles' days are numbered at LSU. I give him 2 years tops. This is nothing to do with being anti-Miles. He did great things while at LSU and should be respected for it. His time is winding down and the major contributors have to be preparing for it. That's why the Miles clause was non-negotiable with Chavis.
A business must prepare long term and let's not fool ourselves, LSU Football is a business...Big business. This is just speculation on my part but Alleva means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It's who controls the money that matters.

Dude has had 2 jobs in 26 years and has never been a guy to actively pursue jobs simply for a pay raise. This late in his career to make a move you better believe there is more to the story.

I think I'd leave anywhere for 400k a year/30% raise

Ok the ship might have some serious holes in it which might be a small factor in the decision, I agree.
But are you freaking serious here with

You need to think of this as a business which is what college football has become. We are not talking a small raise here, we are talking $350,000-400,000-ish. That is basically 30% more money PER YEAR! Wake the frick up people who in their right fricking mind would not take a salary guaranteed of $1.7mil per year for 3 years over $1.3mil per year over 3 years. Not one single one of you would "except the mentally retarded" and I am assuming most are either alumni "like I am" or students of LSU. Chief didn't go to LSU or is he from Louisiana, get off his fricking back he is doing the right thing for his family which all of us would do same thing.

I just had someone tell me that Cameron and Chavis don't get along well. That Cameron doesn't get along well with any assistants. Take it for what it is worth.
