Most Intriguing Matchups:
Georgia may be playing in the two most intriguing matchups of the week taking on both Arkansas and LSU. Arkansas has struggled away from home during the Mike Anderson era so going on the road against a very good Georgia team will be a tough task for the top 25 Razorbacks. Georgia then travels to LSU in Saturday's nightcap. LSU is 8-0 at home this year while UGA is only 2-3 away from Athens.

It's also worth noting the Florida at South Carolina matchup. USC has had a very productive out of conference schedule and it all starts with defense for the Gamecocks. They have only given up more than 70 points once (win against UNC-Asheville). Florida has struggled at times, and have also been led by their defense. This one could definitely be a battle to see who can get to 60 points.

Biggest Blowout:
I see the UK vs Ole Miss game getting out of hand. While Ole Miss has good wins away from home against Oregon, Cincinnati, and Creighton, Kentucky's monster front line should have their way with the Rebel defense.

Team with most to Gain:
South Carolina plays vs Florida and @ Ole Miss this week and after beating a top 10 team last week, they are starting to receive a lot of attention from media pundits. Get two wins here and they join Arkansas and LSU as the SEC's most likely to make the tournament (behind UK).

What's Best for the SEC:
At this point, the SEC has a few teams with better resumes' than the others. Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, and LSU have likely the best OOC resumes. The SEC could get 5 teams in this year, but the right teams have to continue to win. Those above plus the likes of Alabama and Texas A&M round out teams that could make the NCAA Tournament if they win enough games. What the SEC does not need is a log jam around the 9-9/10-8 range. 11+ wins are going to be needed by anyone not named Kentucky.

Seeing that we need to win at least 11 (IMO) lets look at LSU's schedule:

@ Missouri
vs Georgia
@ Ole Miss
vs Texas A&M
@Florida
@ Vanderbilt
vs South Carolina
@ Miss St
vs Auburn
vs Alabama
vs Kentucky
@ Tennessee
@ Texas A&M
vs Florida
@ Auburn
vs Ole Miss
vs Tennessee
@ Arkansas

I like all the home games except UK, maybe South Carolina. Then we will have to pull a few away games. Hopefully Missouri, Miss St, Tennessee, and Auburn. Those are all very winnable.

Still I could easily see us winning any game on the schedule (besides UK) so its all up in the air and will depend on how we play and the matchups we have.

Outside of Kentucky....who can we beat in the SEC that would be considered a "good win" as determined by the committee?

Florida?

Arkansas, Georgia and South Carolina will all be considered "good wins". Alabama has potential if they play well in conference play.

Florida was hurt a lot this OOC season but will likely get better as SEC play moves on.

I can see vandy sneaking into the tourney if they do well in the sec. They have a solid core group of players and defiantly gonna be a tough win.

Vandy's best win is against Purdue who I doubt even goes .500 in their conference... Gonna be tough for them unless they really win a ton of SEC games. And even then Im not so sure cause that likely means the wrong teams are winning games.

We came out of Morgantown with a win, so I like our chances against every SEC team except Kentucky. Take care of business at home and win some on the road, and we should be good for the Big Dance.

I was watching West Virginia @ Texas Tech last night.... It was fun to watch two Big12 teams play that LSU beat. Made me feel pretty damn good about our OOC start.

Last week or so I saw they were the first team out. It's for sure a long shot but I think they might be a better team than tamu.

Georgia is favored over Arkansas by 3 1/2 points.

I didn't realize they an extra 2 days rest. That is a big disadvantage for us, our team won't even make it to bed until probably 3-4am Friday morning then we have to hurry up and prepare for UGA who has already done all prep work for us.

Joe Lunardi hadn't updated since preseason... I don't think they are really on the radar right now. Those other 5 or 6 teams have a much better shot. Florida even has an okay shot if they can really figure things out quickly.

Great point. At least we have that night game and no school to worry about. We really need fan support Saturday night. It will likely be the 2nd/3rd biggest home game of the year.

That basically just goes straight down the line for the power conference teams and then guesses the projected champ for the one-bid leagues. The rankings are a nice way to see how teams may matchup against one another, but I wouldn't use it to project NCAAT teams right now.

Oh by BPI... IDK man. We can argue all day over this one because there are so many metrics you can go by, but at the end of the day, unless Vandy beats UK, they won't have enough impressive wins IMO to make it.

Think last year's Georgia team that went 12-6 in conference and didn't make the tournament. That team had some pretty bad losses, but Rutgers isn't a very good loss for Vandy either.

You are right its too early to put one team against another. Vandy could easily lose to auburn and thats it for them.

But I think going 12-6 this year weighs way more that 12-6 last year because the SEC is much improved imo.
