chewing on kiffen up 4 TD's with under minute left

I am sorry but I miss the intensity...

Certainly all coaches have to be themselves, but this kind of stuff is why Saban is a winner.

He doesn't baby people...

If you're not doing your job, you get an arse chewing

and if you keep it up, you sit...

then you get processed if you sulk and refuse to rise up.

Kiffen by all measure has been pretty darn good for Saban..

they are rolling out Freshman QB's...for 1st year starting 5th year seniors and getting production.

No one chews arse at LSU except maybe coach O...

I don't see much fire on the sidelines

I see whispers "calm down, relax, it will be ok"

Leaders have their own styles...Saban's seems to be the most effective

Being ex military....I totally agree. Azz chewing has its place on the field and in the business world....if for no other reason, to help refocus.

I agree I'm so sick of Miles' shite

Sick of how he hires his best buddies and is more loyal to them and himself than to LSU.

I'd like to see a happy medium between the two. arse chewing has its place no doubt, but so does being calm and collective.

I don't think you can count coach o and Aranda as hiring his buddies. And not jaluke either. Was he buddies with Grimes? Peveto definitely is but he is a great recruiter. Not sure how much this is a problem as much as just misfiring on some hires and not holding coaches accountable such as Grimes. His lines have been abysmal since he's been here.

Saban is most effective because of his extreme attention to detail on all of the days not named "Saturday" as well as his ability to diagnose and adjust once the game actually begins.

His on the field spazz outs probably don't move the needle much. Kiffin, for instance, was pretty clearly tuning him out.

No it's not. One can go down the line looking at dog cussers vs. "nice" guys to find successful and unsuccessful coaches on both sides. The common traits amongst the winners are extreme focus and attention to detail.

I agree, Saban is intense on focus and attention to detail

The anger comes out when he senses people slacking off in their attention to detail which hurts the team

He sharpens the saw...

My belief is you have to be true to yourself

Saban doesn't do things for show, he just leads his way

he has evolved as a coach...

He does things to stay on top

and you're not listening to what I am saying

there is a time to encourage and a time to chew..and unleash wrath

yeah and its those details as to why he was so pissed here.

I think bama had run some kind of trickfrickery and turned the ball over, giving wku the chance to put up these points. he was absolutely livid with kiff for that bullshite.

it's shite like that that'll drive coaches crazy. details.

or

he had money on bama and that allowed wku to backdoor cover

I don't buy it that Saban's intense style is the reason for his success. There's a long list of fiery coaches he never won shite.

Then there are people like Bill Walsh, Tom Landry, Bill Belichik, Bobby Bowden, John Wooden, Red Auerbach, Phil Jackson.....these guys never had to scream at their players to motivate them.

That is an interesting but false premise.

First I would ask you how many practices have you attended to see how much (or little)Miles screams in practice. So you have noting in a practice setting to compare to.

As far as his going berzerk during games, how often to you see professional coaches go after their assistants like that during a game. Professional as in NFL a league where Saban was a dismal failure.

As a business man I've found that screaming at an employee is probably the worst way to motivate one.

Saba's an a great coach because he is the best recruiter in the business, had a deep understanding of the game and has an obsessive attention to detail and is a tireless worker. Some would assert that the deep pockets of the Alabama fan base has more than a little to do with the recruiting prowess but that hasn't been proven.

The Saban abandonment syndrome is rife on this site.
