This is one of Maneiri's better coaching jobs

Outside of Deichman and Lange, this team is just not that talented. You can blame him for recruiting the roster, but their results are way better than their talent. I think that's Paul(and I don't even like him) and the LSU armor the guys put in every night. There is a very fair criticism of what he's done with the cape he inherited, but if you take this year--this roster--he's done a nice job.

Aleva gives Paul a raise then lets the possible future coach go to Moo State. New football coach new basketball coach baseball coach ? I say you need to evaluate the HC position as under or over achieving. Sometimes over 10 years at one place can become stale.

i'm leaning towards the op too. i saw that his recruiting rankings have been lackluster. if that's the case, then he's doing a better job of in game strategy than recruiting. the team is consistently at the top of the game defensively. even this team is in the top 3rd of the conference in basically every hitting category. i don't know what the heck is wrong with the pitching this season, a supposed strength.
there's no shame in losing to a team who has a better roster. the problem is why mainieri is letting the premier program get into that state in the first place. lsu should pretty much NEVER be outmanned.
