If you can stomach the 4,000 ads and pop ups, please provide cliff notes.

Nailed it.

That link is nothing but click bait. I couldn't even read the article due to all the pop ups. Can you post the article?

Florida, under the direction of outgoing (and legendary) athletic director Jeremy Foley used Hurricane Matthew to get out of playing LSU this week and weekend under ANY circumstance. Once the game was understandably and responsibly canceled for noon on Saturday, Foley rejected every LSU effort to transport the Gators to Baton Rouge and play the game there (at no cost to Florida). He then also rejected every LSU offer to fly in and play the game in Gainesville at any time on Sunday or Monday

Why? You'd have to be naive to think it was ultimately any reason other than Florida felt it would be better off playing LSU later in the year than now.

Yeah, that was a miserable user experience.
Cliffs: he reinforced what's already been said. Foley did a masterful job steering his program clear of a loss at a time when they are most vulnerable due to injury.
Sankey is the one to blame.

You people need a better popup blocker.

1 ad....1 pop up.
You sound like Foley and Sankey. If reading it too hard for you than I guess you'll never know the content of the article.

Sorry about the website, here is the article in full:

It is absurd the LSU-Florida football game is not being played today, tonight or tomorrow.
Absurd.
This has nothing to do with the weather turning out to be much better than forecasted (it was sunny, low to mid 80s with a 1 to 2 club breeze Saturday in Gainesville). This has everything to do with Florida and the SEC.

Some will say this is Foley showing why he was so good at his job. Others will say this is Foley taking advantage of a natural disaster to gain a competitive advantage. I say it is both, but the latter outweighs the former. Florida should not be using a Category 4 hurricane as a way to try and gain an edge to win the SEC East.
Florida has three injured lineman and were likely to be without starting QB Luke Del Rio vs LSU this weekend. Now, if the game is played later this year, all four key players will be back (LSU would have been without all-everything RB Leonard Fournette this weekend so the postponement could backfire).
However it should not have mattered Florida's wishes or motives. The individual ultimately responsible for this soap opera, is not Foley, it is SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.
Sankey in his second season as boss was being tested by Foley. Jeremy looked him straight in the eye and said, "I know you have the authority to unilaterally determine where and when this game is played, but I don't think you have the chops to make that call." He was right.
Sankey, in a first half interview during the Tennessee-Texas A&M game on CBS, acknowledged "tension" with one of the school's (I wonder which one?) but while ultimately saying "the game needs to be played" also declared what deep down Foley sensed, "we need to come together."
Sankey's options now appear to be either November 19 or Dec. 3. The 19th would force LSU to give up a home date and play 3 straight SEC road games in a span of 12 days. Dec. 3 would push their championship game back a week, (the Georgia Dome is available on the 10th so this is more viable than you think).
At the end of the day, whenever this game is played and where may mean nothing in the standings. It also could mean everything. Not just for LSU and Florida. Alabama, Texas A&M, Tennessee and the SEC as a whole could be greatly affected by something that should have been easily resolved.
Georgia and South Carolina faced every issue (in sports and everyday life) that Florida and LSU did and managed to come up with a solution (they are playing today in Columbia, SC) in a few hours. Imagine that!
Former SEC Commissioner Mike Slive never would have allowed this to happen. Current Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney never would allow a Michigan or Ohio State to pull one over on them like this.
But Sankey did.
Which is why he is to blame for this mess.
At both Florida and within the SEC, this final act in many ways will be Foley's legacy (good or bad depending on your point of view).
The problem for Sankey is, how this saga turns out, could also be his.

If we were in Florida's position, we would've wanted Alleva to act the same way.
The SEC just flat out failed their test.

False, we would've found a neutral 3rd party field to play on understanding that we need the victory due to a mightier half of the conference.

Were you born in 2006?
We moved a fricking conference game in 2005 to play TENN on Monday night in the wake of Hurricane Rita. We didn't "postpone" it. Do you realize how much canceling that game would have helped LSU that year? Assuming everything plays out the way the rest of the year did, we'd have gone into the SE Championship game undefeated and would not have had to play 12 straight weeks to get there. We may have actually had some legs left and beaten UGA that night. 2005 could have been VASTLY different had we gamed the system the way Florida has.
You know...it's really ok to call a spade a spade here. Florida acted like a bunch of bloody vaginas and the SEC was complicit on allowing them to get away with it. The fact that Foley got away with it and it favored his university in no way suggests it's what we'd do, given we've done the exact opposite within the past 11 years.

Yep, not to mention we flew to Arizona for a home game.

Yes these 2 games were against quality opponents also. Hell I thought for sure we list the ASU game.

UF should have to forfeit. Or Sanky should have told UF that if they didn't at least agree to a contingency plan in case the game couldn't be played on Sat, then they would be forced to forfeit the game.
This is Sanky's screw up 100%.

Probably the best article written on the subject. Good find.

So moving the UGA vs FL game up a week isn't an option?
